Chris Barker (ex-Day At the Fair (http://www.myspace.com/dayatthefair)) has resurfaced in a new band called Further North (http://www.myspace.com/furthernorth). Below is an update from Barker:
Hello dear friends,

FIRST SHOW BACK This Sunday JULY 9th begins the post Day At The Fair experience at Maxwells in Hoboken N.J with Socratic and Adelphi. Its advertised as Chris Barker, but the project is called Further North, and Ill be playing with Rob, Kevin and Monkey, which if you remember was actually the last installment of DATF. Well be playing some new songs and some of your favorite DATF tunes. Our whole set is pretty much whatever you feel like singing and whatever you feel like asking us to play. Were doing this for fun which is why we started to play music in the first place, and its the same reason why we left, when it stopped being fun. Life for us is normal now, weve all been sleeping in beds that dont move, spending time with our family, friends and girlfriends. Im finishing college, rob and I have our own business together, Steve is now a personal trainer and Todd is still as sexy as ever, finishing college as well. Playing live is still in our blood which is why Rob, Myself, Monkey and Kevin are in the studio next week to record two new songs, along with this show. Who knows what will happen, where it will go or what well release. All we know is we are enjoying ours lives right now and we hope the summer is doing the same for all of you. Like I said before, if your still there to listen, well still be there to write em for you Speaking of new songs.

NEW SONGS NOW Last Superbowl Sunday, Chitty and Josh from Houston calls, and myself went into the studio to record a song called ghost stories, with producer Mike D. Anyways, they will be at the show and they will be performing that song with me on Sunday. Furthermore, you can go hear and download that song now at www.myspace.com/chrisbarkermusic. Its a temporary myspace page because I think the whole concept of a solo artist using thier own name is so fucking pretentious and self absorbed. I still refuse to be that guy. Enjoy it. I just love how it says, Chris Barker has 0 friends.

Anyways, come check us out, come sing day at the fair song or two. Wed really love to see you. Love, CHRIS

Made me think of the song "Further North" by Jets to Brazil. Good song.

they've got them listed as an influence so i'm guessing that's where the name came from

nah dude, its much better to give yourself a generic band name that lets people know exactly how long your music is going to last...

All I want to know is when Chris will put out or record that acoustic ep he promised a year or so ago.

When I went to the last datf show, they played a new song and said they're coming back this summer to play all of their songs and he also stated that he was working on other things.

Went to the show last night. No Socratic, it was mark twain (i think, duo that was really good), two night stand (don't know anything about them but also very good, singer did a funky dance at the end), The Track Record (new stuff sounds so much better than the ep, not that the ep was bad, I just enjoyed the new stuff more, really nice guys as well), Adelphi (fist time hearing them, were good) & then Chris. Chris broke the amp that was located in front of him by accident. It was standing on a milk crate and he went to put his foot on it and it kinda slid back and the amp fell of the crate. Rob and the rest of the band had fun making jokes bout the incident. Chris then broke a guitar sting latter on, such drama. :-D
They played a great set & ChittyJosh did come up and play the new song which sounded really good.
Great to see ex DATF up on stage, good times! B-)
