Joe DeAndrea

in the past month, arroyo's ERA has gone from 2.51 to 2.79. not that big of a deal if you ask me

LeftWideOpen
07/09/06, 08:32 PM
anyone not picking webb isn't watching baseball closely enough.

there really is little case against him ...his ERA, walk and SO totals are far superior to Glavine and Arroyo. The guy who probably has the 2nd best case is Brad Penny, the most underrated pitcher of the season so far.

Broken Parachute

AL MVP: Jason Giambi
NL MVP: Albert Pujols

AL Cy Young: Ron Halladay
NL Cy Young: Brad Penny
Giambi over Ortiz?

Jason Giambi, NYY
.260, 27 HR, 72 RBI

David Ortiz, BOS
.278, 31 HR, 87 RBI

And his name is ROY HALLADAY not RON HALLADAY.

Yeah I was just checking stats to make sure, I switched my vote. Penny is so underrated this year.

arroyo has won only once this month and got his ass absolutely kicked today.

anyone picking giambi is a pathetic yankee homer.

xbrokendownx
07/09/06, 08:41 PM
anyone saying ortiz deserved it more than ARod last year is probably a pathetic red sox homo then

mikeford
07/09/06, 08:43 PM
how does that make any sense? ortiz' numbers are WAY better than giambis... PLUS the walkoffs he's hit this season... eiryljkdshf;klwshdfglwgsjfkhz;SDFKl j

my braionz

thats it for me tonight. cant take anymore of this stupidity.

did you even read what i said? i said i only picked giambi to be different, i think ortiz deserves it more. relax

i've been convinced. and looking at the numbers, webbs are better.

...so why pick Giambi at all? this isn't too opinion based when someone clearly has better numbers.

If that's the case I want to switch my vote to Brandon Inge because no one else will pick him.

47 HR's, 148 RBI's, 397 OBP, 604 SLG compared to 48 HR's, 130 RBI's 421 OBP and 610 SLG.

It's not that different, especially when you consider the "clutch factor", which is really just another way of saying the number of big/walkoff hits he came up with ...it's not like Giambi and Ortiz this year and we're only at the halfway point. These totals are likely to separate even more in the 2nd half.

because giambi at least deserves to be in the running for the mvp, while brandon inge doesnt, thats the difference. although he has the same first name as me, so i might slip him a few votes

AL MVP: Jim Thome
NL MVP: Albert Pujols

AL Cy Young: Papelbon
NL Cy Young: Brandon Webb

AL Rookie of the Year: Papelbon
NL Rookie of the Year: Ryan Zimmerman

Biggest Surprise - Not Detroit, I figured 80 game + win season but not more than that. However the most shocking thing has to be Nomar is healthy haha and Bonds trainer didnt turn him in

...not the biggest surprise? we're already 21 wins away from 80 and if we play .500 ball the rest of the way we'll be 96-66 which is probably a playoff spot or a game or two out. not to mention we're doing it with a closer that really is anything but lights out, we've had the most innings pitched in the majors by rookies at about 205 IP which is 26.5% of our IP this season which is also the most in the majors, have the best record in baseball, have the best pitching staff and a top 5 offense in the major leagues. whether you figured us for 80 wins or not, we are the biggest surprise. hands down.

I was trying to put some humor and different things then just saying Detroit being shocking. Most people know that what they are doing is great. They have an amazing pitching staff. I love it though, I use to always go see the Mudhens games. They are all coming up to the Tigers and producing. I am shocked with Miner producing as well as he has , not to mention Verlander. He is soooo good

yeah, except that besides his four at bats, ortiz sits on the bench for the rest of the game. Hence the mvp rightfully went to ARod.

yeah, i guess we shouldn't count pitchers either since they don't matter. they only play once every 5th day.

in fact, we should just let guys hit off a tee and let people field, since playing offense and defense everyday is apparently the criteria for MVP...anything else is meaningless.

i didnt say discount him, i said that since they had almost identical stats the mvp should go to the guy who gives his team great defense in the field.

which is why he won it ...i'm not saying it should have been Ortiz, I was just responding that it wasnt absurd that he was heavily considered because the numbers were close to identical.

that isnt the case with giambi and ortiz this season.

I can somewhat agree with that. Defense should only really be considered if 2 players stats are virtually identical. I mean Jose Canseco won an MVP and his defense is awful. And if any tries to argue that Giambi should win it instead of Ortiz because of defense then they are a complete idiot

I wouldnt call them that big of a letdown. They are in the wild card race (given its the NL) and they are just above .500. Anyone expecting a 90 win season was smoking some wacky shit.

Biggest letdown, if you ask me, has been Anaheim. Atlanta is a close 2nd, although I think a lot of people expected them to steadily decline.

StandMyBrothers

I'm so glad Anaheim is sucking balls again this year. Just like in 2003.

yeah but they are definitely not playing to their potential. they're inconsistent as hell. if they get hot though, which they haven't yet this year, im sure they'll make the playoffs. and i will be at the first playoff game at miller park.
