Weerasethakul gets my vote for best director of the decade (00-09). He put out three films (Blissfully Yours, Tropical Malady and Syndromes and a Century) that could easily be regarded as masterpieces. This is his new short film and it's available to watch globally for free. I haven't checked it out yet but I'm sure it's wonderful.

I'm going to watch Syndromes and a Century tomorrow, will be my first Weerasethakul. Pen-Ek Ratanaruang is already one of my favorite directors, love the Thai language.

It was close, I rewatched Blissfully Yours the other day and it really clicked with me. Denis is great but she doesn't have three films this year that can compete with Weerasethakul.

I'm way too cheap to pay two dollars.

And way too tardy to pay "free".

Didn't really like Tropical Malady, but Syndromes and a Century was so beautiful and mesmerizing. Blissfully Yours is next.

I still need to see Tropical Malady and Blissfully Yours, but Syndromes and a Century was excellent. Will be watching this later.

I laughed so hard when the opening credits came only after 45 minutes in Blissfully Yours, brilliant.

My viewing schedule is pretty packed for the next couple days off, but after Europa, the next in my Netflix Marathon and finishing my Audiard mini-marathon (A Prophet and The Beat...) I definitely wanna have a mini-marathon of his three films.

He's directed a total of five feature-length films. If you want to add the other two they are called Mysterious Object at Noon and The Adventure of Iron Pussy.

mainly directed at Dan, I loved Syndromes and a Century (thought it was brilliant and mesmerizing) but I enjoyed Tropical Malady much more. I watched it twice in two days and didn't want to send it back haha. Thoughts on this?

Definitely see where you're coming from but I prefer Syndromes.

Also, I agree with rating Syndromes over Tropical Malady, although most people I know prefer that latter. Syndromes just feels like a more complete/mature/realized film, and I don't think I'll ever shake seeing this
