Has anyone seen it? I'm interested in checking this movie out but I was curious what other people thought about it.

I'm going to Best Buy tomorrow so I figured I would pick it up if it was really worth it.

i saw the movie when it was released in theatres last year and thought it was pretty good. you should probaly know though that it's subtitled. don't know if that matters to you or not.

does anyone know when day watch will be released in cinema and/or dvd in the states?

Actually the movie is really good. it was shot on a budget of 4mil. and they pull of special effects and some great stuff in it like it was made on an average budget for a movie of its type today. Its the beginning of a trilogy so keep that in mind - theres more to come and it doesnt make sure it wraps anything up. The movies are based on russian novels of the same name I believe, Night Watch, Day Watch, and Dawn Watch.
The DVD, which came out a couple weeks ago features the subtitles and a pretty decent dub as well, I was surprised in all actuality. If you find it a little hard to follow at first, watching it the second time definitely helps you pick up just about everything you may have missed. Its mostly style over substance, but its still really decent and worth checking out. It puts american cinema to shame for shooting on that budget and doing that well.
Go pick it up. its worth the 15-20$ you'll drop for it, at least I thought so.

i just couldn't get into it. I like the genre of scifi/horror/fantasy a lot, but I didn't care for any of the characters and just.. couldn't get into it as a movie.

Sorry, never use that. This was a spur of the moment thing.

maybe, and im not being a dick, Im proposing a serious idea as to why you may not have enjoyed it, is it possible you went in expecting too much, a typical american popcorn blockbuster "Underworld" type of movie? Like I said, this is foreign film, made for $4mil and the start to a trilogy that in no way intends to answer the questions it asks, wrap up all the plotlines and complete itself like Hollywood movies are so keen on doing in each installment nowadays.
We, as dumbed down americans are so accustomed to this form of film that when we dont get it a lot of people give a loud resounding "WTF?!" I think as a trilogy this will be much more accessible to people. but as a single part of a series I can see why a lot of people would be turned away. I think, myself, that its a great gateway to a fun set of movies that doesnt try to be any better than what it is.

That is pretty much what I'm expecting from it.
