View Full Version : Motion City and Silverstein Hug it Out
Melissa Johnson
07/10/06, 05:45 PM
The following was submitted by a user regarding the recent "drama" between Motion City Soundtrack (http://www.absolutepunk.net/motioncitysoundtrack) and Silverstein (http://www.absolutepunk.net/silverstein):
"On July 9th at the Warped Tour in Fresno, CA the lead singer from Motion City Soundtrack boldly stated (while wearing a Silverstein t-shirt) that they would by handling the situation with Silverstein out by the buses after the show.
During Silverstein's set, the band brought out a guy in a hat and sunglasses and said he was there to speak to the crowd about the internet. The disguised man asked if anyone had heard about the feud between Silverstein and Motion 'Shitty' Soundtrack and then made a joke about MCS re-releasing their album. The crowd went crazy cheering on Silverstein and booing MCS. Shane from Silverstein then pulled off the disguised man's hat and sunglasses to reveal the lead singer Justin from Motion City Soundtrack. The two 'rival' band members hugged and told the audience not to believe everything they read on the internet."

What was the original feud about?
Nothing. (Or at least they never said..)
You know they had to be sitting around on one of the buses one night together drinking beers and the idea of "Let's really fuck with all the kids..." got brought up, and this is what came of that idea.

Now, can we expect a Jason Tate/Sonny Moore make-up hug sometime soon?

Let it go, its not that ridiculous. I think its pretty awesome in fact. I mean fucking with people is great. Now if you could fuck with a huge mass of people at once via the internet and on stage at a show...wouldnt you take the oppurtunity. Assuming the situation wouldnt harm anyone.

Yeah, I know - I was more or less pointing the finger at him with that one.
Although, that chimp suit idea is kinda funny. But Sonny seems pretty bitter, so...
I agree with you, sir. Pretty lame if you ask me.
Really lame, in fact. I didn't even think it was a prank from the this was written. Sounds to me like there WAS a beef and lawyers on both sides told them to play it off like a prank. Whatever, I don't even give a shit to begin with. Fuck both bands for either playing a lame-ass prank, or letting their drama out in the open and then pretending it doesn't exist. All this shit is a waste of bandwidth, just like my post.

It just goes to show how many posers listen to the music. I guess you have to have scenesters in every music genre; it just happened to be a bunch of Silverstein fans at Warped tour that day! If they are real Silverstein fans....they probably have to find out from the Web before they can make that decision.
Interesting...I guess...it still doesn't change the fact that MCS's new album was incredibly disappointing.

So they thought it out somewhat & mentioned laywers. That OBVIOUSLY makes it true. And they are OBVIOUSLY just trying to cover it up by saying it was a joke!!! LOLOLOLOL!!!

so this site is wrong again? hahah hilarious
I wouldn't exactly say they are wrong.
There was obviously some tip of a fued. If it was planned by the bands, it's not like the site made it up.
It's just a big joke. To prove that people take the internet way too seriously.
The end.

i was there too and finally seeing mcs live blew me away (sooo great, sooo fun), and i know they were stellar - but i do not think they warranted a "danggggggggggg" at all.
i had no idea they had any "beef" with silverstein last friday at warped.....but this little hug story is pretty sweet. boy do i love mcs.

i thought it was funny. people need to stop acting all high&mighty as if the whole prabnk is "just soooooo beneath me". get over it. it's a couple of band's having fun. they weren't trying to do anything but have fun. if you can't understand that, ipity you and anyone you're ever around.

haha that warped day was awesome cause of that.
AND mcs covered silversteins merch tent in MCS posters befroe doors opened. it was hilarious.
