So, every year around this time I get in a little funk because of my birthday. It's not because I feel like I'm getting old, cause I'm not, it just makes me think about all the things I haven't accomplished and where I'm at in my life.
Can you relate? Suggestions?

Who doesn't though? That was a given.
I would suggest to get drunk, and eat chicken fingers all day. That would be enough to cheer anyone up.

I don't, but I don't have a dick, so I'm not sure that counts.
Better job, better health, more happiness.
this reminded me of a quote i came across yesterday, after a minute of digging i found it:

Make a list of short term goals you can possible achieve by the time your next birthday rolls around, see how many you cross off. That might make you feel a little better, or not depending on how you look at it.

I stopped celebrating my birthday two years ago. I don't ask for anything anymore. It's so meaningless to me, material things.

I always get upset because no one else cares quite as much about my birthday as I do. Also, I kind of wish I were some sort of prodigy, instead of someone who is completely average with slightly better than average accomplishments.

These.
For the second one, even if you don't achieve all the goals on the list, trying is what mattered. So, even if you don't actually GET a better job, at least you'll have tried looking and applying etc.
There's nothing worse (in my mind) than someone who complains about the way things are, but does nothing to change them.

I totally relate to that.
On my 15th birthday, my mum went to work and my dad was out, so I had to wait until the weekend before I got to open my presents and blow out the candles (my birthday was actually on a Wednesday). I was crushed; my actual birthday was effectively ignored and postponed to a more convenient date.

Yeah I completely agree. I haven't just been sitting around complaining about it though, I've just found myself in a bit of bad luck I guess.

Good idea, hookers. The effort isn't lacking, I'm just not where I want to be and can't seem to get anything to fall my way. I think I'm just burnt out from work and school.

63 apps in the past 6 months, I'm definitely trying. It's just difficult with the class schedule I have.

This too! I try sooooooo hard to be there for my friends' birthdays and I'm not getting the same effort on mine. Not to mention all the people that don't care but pretend to because It's that time of year.

Absolutely....
And that's really shitty. I hope you remind them of that every year. I have a few friends that live out of state, but within driving distance from me and they're all like "you should come up here for your birthday!" Why can't you come down since, afterall, it is my birthday?
Hm. Apparently I have shitty friends.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that you are one of those people. Although, yeah, it totally did read like that - I apologise. I was actually trying to say it in a more comforting way as in, because you are trying, you've less reason to feel bad about yourself (and your birthday) because at least you're actually trying to make things better, whereas there are plenty of people who aren't... Does that make sense?

Oh, no, I didn't take it that way at all. That's one of my biggest pet peeves, people who complain about situations but don't try to fix it. No need to apologize.

Same thing happened to me last year when I turned 18... I was so damn depressed. Just hold your head up and keep moving ahead - your age really doesn't mean much.
