Buried (2010)

Paul Conroy (Ryan Reynolds) is a U.S. citizen working as a contract driver in Iraq. After a swift and sudden attack on his convoy, he awakens to find himself buried alive inside a coffin with nothing more than a lighter, a cell phone, and little memory of how he ended up there. Faced with limited oxygen and unlimited panic, Paul finds himself in a tension-filled race against time to escape this claustrophobic deathtrap before it’s too late.

I like the idea behind the trailer, and I'm interested because it's Ryan Reynolds, but I really agree with /film that the rotating camera in the clip is annoying. I hope the movie exceeds expectations.

Agreed, the rotating camera was insanely irritating. The idea is interesting through. The idea of being buried alive gives me ridic panic attacks so i doubt I'll see this

How did you not know that you never leave the coffin seeing this? The feeling of being trapped is intended. As well as the general issues with whether or not you can trust whoever is on the phone.

i didnt look into anything before seeing it. But i think it kinda short changes the story. I didnt really care about anyone involved because i never saw them. The whole theater walked out saying "shit" "sucked" so i know im not alone

it had potential but i think containing the entire film (and gaping plot holes) didnt help the credibility of the situation you are presented. imo of course

Haven't seen the film yet, but when I read the ending of the script, it really stopped me in my tracks. I hadn't been really enthralled by the script to that point, but the ending really throws you for a loop, and it makes me want to see the whole thing now.

Haha I just saw this post and its funny because the first Buried Alive always comes to mind when I think of this. I used to LOVE the scenes when he releases them and all the rooms in the house are one big maze-crawlspace. The second one was atroacious, however.

Oh my God, that ending ripped my soul to shreds. I'm spoiler tagging all of this because in a movie about being buried alve there's really only two ways it can end and posting sadness will make it obvious. But seriously, how he was talking to his wife about how he'd be home soon and how relieved she was, on top of the fact that he had to hang up on her while she was in hysterics to answer the government guy's call, was fucking heartbreaking. Losing my significant other is my biggest fear in the world and I just can't even imagine that. What a terrible way to say goodbye. I am way too sappy of a guy to watch that stuff.

Anyways, phenomenal film. I'm shocked I'm saying that because when the trailer opened with the Lionsgate imprint and the plot was revealed, I had no hope. Ryan Reynolds was a one man movie here though, and I have even more respect for him now. 9/10 I'd say, easy.

Watching this movie with a bunch of engineers was a MISTAKE. They couldn't get over the fact that he was wasting his oxygen supply with the lighter. I do think one of the better jokes made was in response to how could still have a cell-signal and someone responded, "Dude must have verizon."
