Virgin Records is seeking a highly motivated, over achieving intern for the
A&R department
Do your friends and family think you’re a freak because you spend most of your time going to clubs at night trying to discover new bands? Well my little night crawler, we are looking for someone who lives, and breathes and knows their music better than all their peers. This is an amazing opportunity to work alongside the Director of A&R. We seek someone who’s confident and comfortable around high profile artists who won’t geek out with our bands, management, attorneys and label staff. We require a “get it done” attitude and someone who can research bands, scour the web and listen to demos. Of course you will be doing administrative work such as filing and answering phones…..you’re an intern, remember???!!! The upside learning the business hands on in a fun and fast paced atmosphere while getting your foot in the door at a busy major label A&R department in LA. Can you feel your contact list growing already? Thought so…..
Daily tasks include:
-Reviewing and logging demos.
-Music research for new artists and music news through the Web and magazines.
-Creating a weekly calendar of shows in the area.
-Submitting expenses using Microsoft Excel.
-Answering and logging phone calls.
-Handling all mail distribution.
-Labeling and organizing CDs and other artist files.
-Attending shows on a weekly basis.
-Personal input on all of the music and art that goes with assigned artists.
Requirements:
-Eligibility for school credit only. *****This is unpaid Internship*****.
-Looking for minimum of 24 hours a week.
-Comprehensive Internet and general computer knowledge including Word and Excel.
-Strong phone skills
-Extensive knowledge of all genres of music, but specifically indie rock, rock, punk, metal and pop punk.
