Alone and acutely depressed, having just learned of his ex-wife’s wedding plans, John (John C. Reilly) can’t believe his luck when he encounters beautiful, charming Molly (Marissa Tomay) at a party. The two get along famously and launch a passionate affair, until Molly’s 21-year-old son, Cyrus (Jonah Hill) , enters the scene.

I actually just saw Magnolia not too long ago, and it made me like John C. Reilly better as a serious actor. Still, this looks good.

I'll probably see it. I'm trying to see 100 movies this year, not a very original goal I know, but it will be fun. Also, has anyone seen Youth In Revolt? If so please tell me what you thought of it.

Interesting. It's now bumped off my most anticipated list. Looks decent.
john c reilly is one of the better actors/comedians around, so i'll see this. keener is amazing as well, so that's a plus.

Until I clicked on the link, I seriously assumed this was some documentary relating to a Miley Cyrus tour or something. Happy to see this finally has a trailer (and more importantly, a title). Love the Duplass brothers.

John C. Reilly = Totally underrated.
I keep getting confused with him and the guy from Scrubs.

This was a pretty cool movie. I saw in the winter at the Ann Arbor film fest and Jonah hill and the directors and some producers talked afterwards.
Listening to them talk about it made me like it even more.

I wish Bill Murray was a little younger. I think he'd be fucking perfect for this role. But no complaints about John C. Reilly. Looks great

Perfectly cast, good script, poorly shot. Way too much shaky cam and zooming - visually it felt like watching some weird mix of Cloverfield and The Office when the subject matter called for neither. Overall I'd definitely recommend it, but stylistically it was distracting. But seriously, the acting is great. Jonah Hill can be multidimensional, apparently.

This was exactly what I said to my friend who watched it with me. I was very distracted by how it was shot, may have ruined the whole feel of the movie for me.

Haven't seen it yet, unfortunately. I was just gauging whether or not the lukewarm reviews were coming from fans of the directors or not, ya know? Will post thoughts as soon as I see, though.

I saw this film today and thoroughly enjoyed it. I definitely noticed all of the excessive zoom in/zoom out but it didn't bother me too much. Lots of hysterical awkward moments.

I'm hoping those who say it's poorly shot aren't Duplass brothers fans and just aren't familiar with their style.
That being said, I still haven't seen it and the wait for it to come to my local theater (and it probably never will) is killing me.

Again? He's done nothing but get bigger and bigger. It's almost scary how big he is.
Also, this movie looks terrible. I love the cast, minus Hill, but it's Step Brothers again, only with a step-dad/step-son conflict.

So it's a serious version of Step Brothers. I don't know, it just looks bad. That Shrek joke makes me cringe.

He lost a ton of weight from Accepted/40-Y-O Virgin to Superbad and Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

If you know nothing about the filmmakers or writers and are making assumptions based on the cast or trailer, it'd probably be best to just stop talking about it.

Jonah was fucking huge early in his career. He was probably at his smallest during Superbad but still nowhere near as big as he was.

Wait, so judging something from a trailer is wrong? Getting my ideas and feelings and thoughts about a movie from the 2 minute, edited-together clips they give us to get our ideas and feelings and thoughts from is wrong? I had this movie thing wrong from the get-go.
Also, the Duplass brothers have done nothing to impress me, which translates to this movie not impressing me, meaning I don't need a trailer to get my ideas and feelings and thoughts. I think this movie looks bad, which is my opinion, which you're mad over. You lose.

This film was astonishingly good. I actually found it to be very beautiful at points.
Also, I would like to add this to the "Terrible marketing" pile. It is far closer to "Punch Drunk Love" than it is "Step Brothers"

Watched this the other day, gotta say I was disappointed. Seemed the trailer showed all the funny bits and the film got all serious on me when I expected it to be like Step Brothers with more fighting and shit. Also the ending was really abrupt.

The camera work sucks, the story is a little dry and tired, but it's an enjoyable enough movie.
