if you are in the need of some seriously good ambeint tech metal, this is your band. i know alot of people hated the first album by these guys, because it was standard metalcore and the vocals were AWFUL. But they have improved tenfold. not as many breakdowns, amazing ambeince, good clean vocals,etc. think the satillite years-era hopesfall mixed with between the buried and me. the new album is called Let Oceans Lie, and its out now on victory records. I can see the vocals being a problem on their first record, but why on this one? And what problem did you have with the production? Jamie King is great.

the vocalist just sounds like he's breathing really heavily into the microphone and as for the production it sounds really crunchy (i haven't listened to the whole CD but from what i've heard that's the impression i'm getting from it)

I haven't heard that from any observation I've made by listening to his screams. With the production, it may just seem that way. I've heard enough Jamie King records to know how his production is. I'm not really sure how "crunchy" is necessarily a bad thing though :shrug:

The vocals are pretty darn terrible. I couldn't get into them. If I want good technical metal, I'll listen to August Burns Red, Within The Ruins, or BTBAM thank you very much.

What are you talking about? I like August Burns Red, but they are far from technical. That implies that their guitar work is extremely intricate, which it's not.

One song makes no difference. It would be the same as saying All Time Low is hardcore if they had a breakdown in one of their songs. You see what I'm getting to? Listen to either one of AHAF's records, there's something to be found on every song.
