College was fantastic. I miss it. I do like making money and paying off my bills now though. Even with working 3 jobs in college, I wasn't able to stash much away for student loan payments. Taking care of that now which is nice.

i loved college and miss it. thats why after working for 4 years, im back getting an MBA. ;) although its not quite as fun as undergrad. my first 3 years of college were awesome.

that said, by the end of my 4 years, I was ready to be done I think. each transition in life has its pluses and minuses.

college is fun because you can meet alot of people and you really do have alot of free time. i had a full scholarship though, so i never had to worry about working in school.

the real world is nice in that you generally have more money, but less time to spend it. and its alot harder to meet people and make friends.

college is terrible, after 5 semesters i still hate my university. the majors that are more of a "safe bet" for employment are miserable to learn about, and the persona/lifestyle/interests of most of the student body have started to turn me into a misanthrope and has made me realize there is about a 2% chance i'll find it valuable to get to know somebody. the only thing i like about it is being able to live off of student loans in a house with my best friend (who is also my band's drummer) but even then college seems to constantly be in the way of our incessant devotion to music.

i need to get out, get a temporary job, and get to work on my music career as soon as i possibly can.

Every place has shenanigans but they couldn't keep up with us drinking wise. At 2 we were leaving to go to the next place they thought we were going home. They couldn't under stand why someone would start a party at 2am but hey I guess UA can't go as long as potsdam people can.

It was a few of them and they were pretty big drinkers and close at 4am? I don't think they expected a party to be starting at 2am because places there close at 4am. All our bars are 24/7, too. Although needless to say I bet people get higher grades at UA.

What did the English language do to you to deserve this?

All that aside, there are about 20,000 college students in Albany during the school. In the Albany metro area, you could probably add on another 10,000 onto that number.

"UA" is not dead. Albany is not dead. I'm not trying to be a dick and tell you are wrong, but you are so wrongggggggg.

Also, it's impossible for bars to be open 24/7 in Potsdam or any municipality in New York. So, that's wrong too.

See, I'm a nursing major, which means no sleep, not so stellar grades, and minimal social life. I'm going to make a career of saving lives in 4 years, so that takes a lot of responsibility and maturity. God, it's exhausting.

I agree with the high school friends comment, though. It's weird because I went to college with my two high school best friends (didn't plan it, it just worked out that way), so I can't really say I have a 'best friend from college.' I guess I'm lucky to have them so close.

know what you mean, cept it's kinda opposite for me.
freshman year i only hung out with kids on my floor and didn't really do much. first semester sophomore year i pledged this business fraternity (it's cooler than it sounds i promise) because my boyfriend, two roommates, and a bunch other people i knew were in it. it was really nice to have that pledge class to hang out with all the time. buuuut since they're the business kids they had all these crazy interviews throughout the pledge process and i basically failed miserably at those, so i got kicked out and lost all my friends. i don't really know what to do with myself anymore...

Agree, except for the HS part. I love HS and College was even better. Didn't do the dorms but lived w/ 25 guys in a Christian co-op for all for 4 years. Best time of my life. i don't have a choice! my list of required courses are pretty rigid and they usually have one section, and of course, it's at 8 fucking am. professors are sadists who like to watch lesser people suffer.

i know it's only been a semester for you, but i feel like freshman year should be one of, if not the, best year. everything's new, you're making friends left and right... my first year was a blast.

that's a bummer. my other best friends are in PA, VA, NC, GA etc. i write them letters. like, legit letters, with stamps and envelopes. i suggest you do that! it's so much fun :)

I'm not making friends left and right anymore... I'm pretty shy.

We do write letters to each other. It's a bit of a toll on my wallet, and I've definitely spent more at the post office in the past 5 months than in the past 5 years. It probably doesn't help that I also occasionally mail them mix CDs or cookies.

personally, i thought highschool was harder than college. Waking up everyday at 6:30am, forced to take certain classes. hmm college was better. but in general, i hated school

I swear there's a perception of college in the US created that surely can't be accurate. But I might just be pessimistic though, it sounds pretty awesome sometimes..

I go to uconn and fucking LOVE it. Same goes for CT; lovelovelove. UCONN! HUSKIES!
 My only problem is there are way too many dudes who think they are tough as shit and always wanna throwdown at pretty much every part, not saying that they wanna fight me I just think it's stupid. I think that goes for anywhere though.

Can't believe anyone in here is saying they miss high school.

I hated high school so much that I dropped out.

I love college though. I only have class 2 days a week and can do whatever I want the other 5 days of the week.

I loved high school. My school had a really diverse group of people, and every day was an adventure with something crazy or funny happening. Hated going from 8-3 though. Ew. Not to mention being forced to take chemistry. Yuck yuck yuck.

I love college too though! It's definitely different. I'm in love with my school. The campus is beautiful, I have a good mix of old and new friends here, and party-wise it's pretty much the most fun place I've ever been to, it gets really wild. I enjoy the classes too, because I can't get enough of my major and I only go from 11-2 everyday with a 3-5 class on tuesday as well. Basically... it's all awesome. haha

Don't miss it. It fucking sucks ass for some of us. I've been so swamped with work I've LITERALLY not had more than 20 minutes to spare on any given day (like right now for example, I'm sparing a piece of that 20). I would love to be out of school right now. I had a better time in high school.

College is probably fun for non-engineering based majors though.

Maybe. I was also absolutely shitfaced when I posted that. There's quite a few people that I like here and are really chill. I just don't think this school is really for me.

It's all good. Yeah, I've definitely thought about it but I'm seeing how this semester goes first.

I went to a large state school with 40,000 undergrad students. In that scenario, there are bound to be people you can relate to/get along with. If you go to a small school, think about transferring to a larger school.

Yeah, my school has like 3,500 undergrads or something. Like I said, I have met some people I relate too, and others that are very fun to hang out with, but overall, I don't think this school's for me.

college is terrible, after 5 semesters i still hate my university. the majors that are more of a "safe bet" for employment are miserable to learn about, and the persona/lifestyle/interests of most of the student body have started to turn me into a misanthrope and has made me realize there is about a 2% chance i'll find it valuable to get to know somebody. the only thing i like about it is being able to live off of student loans in a house with my best friend (who is also my band's drummer) but even then college seems to constantly be in the way of our incessant devotion to music.

i need to get out, get a temporary job, and get to work on my music career as soon as i possibly can.

I feel the exact same way, minus the "struggling musician" thing (I play a couple instruments, but I'm not making a career out of it or anything).

Seriously, though. Here's to hoping it gets better, because I've come too far to quit now.
