The Blue Album makes them timeless in my mind. As long as I'll always have that, I'm fine with whatever they decide to do.

its probably better they break up now before they come out with another crappy album.
the green album was their last album in my opinion.

Probably for the best. Everything post-Pinkerton has been garbage.

Everything since PInkerton has been . . . not Weezer. I'd be glad to see them hang it up for good before becoming a mockery of what they once were.

I remember watching an old interview with weezer when they first came out on MTV back in like 1994. Kennedy was the one interviewing them. And she asked them something along the lines of "so what do you think about being called emo?" If you dont believe me I'm sure you can find the video somewhere on the internet.
Yeah I bet they make another album also...Pinkerton rocked my world

My favorite band ever, but it was time. Here's to a box set of the ungodly amount of unreleased songs (especially the '92-'98 ones)!

he doesn't actually say that.. he says:
Really, for the moment, we are done. And I'm not certain we'll ever make a record again, unless it becomes really obvious to me that we need to do one.
so it is still up in the air.

This is sad news. This is one of those bands I've grown up with since I was a kid and I've been a fan of theirs for a long time. I wish they would go on tour for 1 last time though. One of my favorite is no more. But to me it sounds like it's not the complete end of weezer. It just sounds like Weezer is out of fuel for a while. Shame.
its probably better they break up now before they come out with another crappy album.
the green album was their last album in my opinion.
I kinda agree with that. There was some good stuff on Maladriot and Make Believe. Make believe was a good album to me. But Green Album was their last great album.

Am I the only one who thinks "Make Believe" was a great album? That stuff seriously reminded me of the Blue album. When Pinkerton first came out and I was in high school, I thought it was crappy. I loved everything since then.

if they are done, what a bad way to go out. anyhow, you really can't write off the green album, being that "island in the sun" is on it.

I don't know if you've ever seen rivers' "catologue of riffs", but it's his list of songs and it's in the 700s. There's hundreds of songs we haven't heard, and pretty much all that is standing in the way is the geffen contract. If the contract was up we would have had songs from the black hole by now almost for sure. The band was so good about giving songs away for free (all the maladroit and early album 5 demos) that geffen got pissed, and now they can't anymore. It's kind of ironic, because those songs are all pretty mediocre, and now the fact that they were so generous then is preventing us from hearing really really good stuff now.
They need to get back with Matt Sharp and make another album produced by Ric Ocasek.
...or release Songs From The Black Hole.

Wow, you said exactly what I was thinking. Yeah, I think it's time for the guys to go their separate ways. They just aren't making the inspiring stuff they used to. Maybe one day down the road one of them will find a new inspiration with a new band and wow us. For now we can keep a hold of all our old favorites and remember what they were like when they were great.

i think they owe it to their fans to do at least one final show.
i hate when bands just quit, and dont feel they owe anything to the people that made them who they are.
The way I look at it, they released two more albums than I ever expected them to. I was satisfied with the first three. If it's their time then it's their time.

Rivers has been saying this since Pinkerton. They'll be back late next year...we'll hear stories of them demoing and junk.
Fuck, they could release three more albums without stepping into a studio if they wanted. they have more b-sides than any band ever.....
they'll be back, don't fret.

thats messed up. thats not at all how it all happened. he thought it was a failure at the time of its release cause it was, basically i feel cause it was ahead of its time and it took people so long to realize how great it was. he considered it a failure at the time cause he put so much into it personally and revealed so much of himself to the public and then it right away got rejected and it devastated him. dont talk about something so bluntly when you really dont know much about it apparently. rivers in my opinion never sold out and always was genuine, im not saying it was always the best music but they always did what they felt was right and at the most only made about one purposely radio-friendly song per CD, which isnt bad at all. rivers owns you.
ps. people like you are the reason rivers once called his fans all "little bitches"

I am still one of the few that thinks Pinkerton is their best, but Weezer is and always will be one of my all-time top 5 faves. This is kind of expected, and with Rivers entering a new plateau in life, maybe it's just time to try out something new. Although, I can see one more happening in a couple years, with a final tour and everything.

kind of like blink is on a "hiatus", eh?
Either way, Geffen has a Greatest Hits record on the release schedule for September. We'll see if it'll come out. Sounds like Rivers isn't happy w/ it.
