Kristen Stewart's getting a lot of praise for her role and Dakota Fanning is undeniably talented
hesitant about this movie for other reasons, mostly because the trailers make it look kinda cheesy

I have a soft spot for Kristen Stewart, even if her acting can be really sub par. Most of the time I just blame it on the quality of the movies (of the movies I've seen her in only two were actually good.)

Unfortunately this movie seems to be keeping that trend alive. The trailer looks way too targeted at the Twilight fanbase.

They had announced a movie after Spider Man 3 did so well but nothing has become of it, as far as I know.

I've never heard of this. So it's a superhero team that's involved with dinosaurs? I'm in.

It is about a bunch of kids who find out their parents are supervillains and run away. They all develop their powers and strong family bonds with each other. Great story.

RottenTomatoes has been right with the majority of movies I have seen and to be honest I can make my mind up by comparing reviews from friends and critics alike, I just don't wanna hear one of my favorite girl rock bands being shown up on a crappy movie.

I don't know about that. I feel like it deals with some pretty mature themes. It would definitely have to be a little more mature. I'm not sure if kids would understand a lesbian dating an alien.

Unrelated, I put on Superhero Squad before and my dad asked me how old I was. I'm a sucker for Thanos though.

That's a good point. I'd love for there to be a live action at some point too.

As of May 2008, a film version of the comic is in the scripting state, with Brian K. Vaughan writing and Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios President of Production, producing. Feige has said "In our discussions with Brian, we wanted him to be the person to bring it to life. I think it won't be a precise story line of any [of his comics], but certainly it will be most similar to the tone or origins of his structure in its initial run". A 2011 release is tentative, as Fiege expected a finished script in early 2009.

I had known it had been optioned, but there is pretty much zero news on it anymore.

There's was an article about Kristen Stewart's break away from the Twilight fad that talked about this movie, which to my surprise, is getting being rated R (the trailer is misleading.)

But the article immediately explained why:
In the film, Stewart's character snorts cocaine, makes out with costar Dakota Fanning and drunkenly urinates on an electric guitar.

Sounds like a good time.

One of the first all female 'rock' bands, was the starting point for Joan Jett & Lita Ford, featured a 16/17-year old lead singer wearing lingerie, sex, drugs, rock and roll, allegations they were just a corporate tool, etc., etc.

There's a big story and the Runaways were a huge influence on females and rock/punk.

I think most people base their expectations for movies on trailers/promotion, which seems catered to teens with the whole MTV partnership

Aaah, I see. I haven't seen any trailers/promotion, just know the Runaways story and have heard that the movie wasn't censored for teen audiences.

I liked her a lot in Adventureland and Into the Wild but both have her acting in similar roles (desperate, reckless, heavy on the teenage angst). Her role in The Yellow Handkerchief and this seem to fall into that as well. I don't see her breaking out of that character type for a long time.

Is it just me or does the upcoming bio-picture of the Runaways seem like it has the worst casting in the world? Joan Jett is protrayed by Kristen Stewart (the horrible actress in the Twilight Series) and Cherrie by Dakota Fanning. I don't know about you, but Joan Jett is one of my heros when it comes to music, especially since she is a girl. I'm really on the fence about this movie o

just because she was in twilight, that doesn't make her a terrible actress. She was quite good in Into the Wild, the cake eaters, and In the land of women. Also, the casting for this film, like it or not, is pretty spot-on. Michael shannon (sp) is apparently incredible (rotten tomatoes reviews all mention him as stealing every scene.)

Ever seen Nine Lives? Dakota fanning and Amanda seyfried (sp) at their best in that film. Incredible! If you haven't seen it, I strongly recommend it.

Dakota Fanning looks really good in all the stuff I've seen. Never been a big fan of Stewart, but she is decent most of the time. I think Dakota will really shine with this film and if the rest of the cast does well it could turn out really good. The Runaways is a good story for a film so it could be a really good film.

Kristen Stewart isn't very talented...she has this one character that she plays in every single film. Dakota Fanning is INSANELY talented and I think she'll be amazing in it.
