Does anyone have problems with their parents trying to control them? Like my dad uses things that he knows I love (like my cat) to control me. And not just to control me to also hurt me. I seriously don't know what to do anymore...I just can't please him and i'm convinced he hates me.

My dad only talks about my cat, it is very annoying and he wants me out of the house but I'm not allowed to anything outside of the house. So he throws a double edge sword at me.

You don't need to be saying "fuck y'all" to us - you need to be saying it to your parents, genius. if you're 19 and they're using things like your cat to "control" you...well, you obviously haven't really proven yourself as able to outsmart them. and until you learn to outsmart your parents, they will not only try, but actually will control you. case in point - you're on the internet trying to find out how to get your dad to let you take the cat on car trips or something.

i had to move back in with my my parents after 4 years on my own (due to getting laid off) they are kind of aware of the fact they cant control me....i mean as long as i pick up after myself they don't really give a shit what i do

i lived at home after i graduated for about a year. short of me bringing girls home to sleep with, my mom didn't really care what i did.

although she would call me every day at work to see if i was going to be home for dinner. when i don't even know when i'll be done with my work, there is no feasible way for me to be able to gauge whether i will be able to eat a meal with you. ugh - drove me nuts.

Kind of, the man my mom married took away all of the money in my savings account (thousands of dollars which I was using for a surgery she needed) and then screwed her and I over on rent and all of the bills so that we wouldnt press charges against him for what he did to me and so that she would look irresponsible financially to the judge during the divorce hearing.

My batty mom on the other hand uses the fact that she made me quit my job and move back home with her and the fact that she has money for one plane ticket and will leave me home alone with no house key (her creepy husband stole my key when she kicked him out) and no job because I have no social security number while she leaves the state, against me every time she gets angry.
