spider-webs and lunatics
i'm just not a part of this
or that, or really anything else at all
sing a song, alice, for me
give me a moment to shed a new creed
my shield is worn, cracked at the corners
but i've got nothing else to spend myself with

i want it back
i never meant to lose it in the first place
it's just like being alone
it's just like that last, lonely street light flickering off when you pass
and it's an uneasy feeling, that i just don't let go

brush that last lock from your face
my shoes are worn, the soles are tired
