ESPN Radio just finished their V Foundation auction on their shows...their official totals come in on Mike and Mike tomorrow morning, but they already know they surpassed last year's totals in money made. This week has show how ESPN can be impressive, using athletes to make dreams come true, and to raise money for cancer research...

But, I always thought the most impressive speech perhaps that I've ever seen, certaintly in sports, is Jim Valvano's ESPY Speech from 1993...and while I know most of you have seen it before, it's great to watch or hear it again.

Everytime I get to the end, it takes everything I have not to breakdown:

"Cancer can take away all my physical abilities. It cannot touch my mind, it cannot touch my heart and it cannot touch my soul. And those three things are going to carry on forever. I thank you and God bless you all."

For anyone who hasn't seen it, you can see it hear:

i've got an audio version of it that i listen to every so often. To me, it's the best sports speech ever. So good.

i agree, but i take sports out of it. i just think it's one of the greatest, most moving speeches i've ever got to see. i also remember watching it when it took place.

i love jimmy v.

the entire speech is. I laugh everytime at the story of him coaching freshman basketball and trying to emulate vince lombardi and then choke up at the last, it's just probably the best speech i've ever seen.

Such a great speach.

"I've got tumors all over my body and this guy is standing in the back telling me I have 30 seconds left...get outta here, fonaballllaaaaa."

i was just thinking that. it's not a sports speech, it transcends sports. it's a life speech.
