But there's a limit; that limit is bands like Lights, nevershoutnever!, Owl City, Cash Cash, etc. But maybe some current-gen pop-punk bands that, let's be honest, aren't anything remotely original or likely to last very long, but just write really, really catchy songs. Thanks.

See, you're cheating by omitting artists that are truly shameful.

i want artists that make me feel roughly 50% joy, 50% shame when listening to them, not 100% shame.

you know that saying "hate the artist, not the art?" or something to that effect? i don't really hate the music as much as the people who make it.

Cute is what we aim for
forever the sickest kids - I dug the first album, the new one not so much
maroon 5

and I don't know why, but I tend to kind of enjoy some good ole' cock rock, bands like daughtry, chevelle, nickelback, old disturbed, old linkin park, taproot, three days grace, trapt, 12 stones, 3 doors down - can't help it, and makes decent workout music

Artist Vs. Poet is catchy and generic. But it's fun all the same.
Breathe Electric isn't bad either.
Umm... I'm usually full of generic pop, but that's what I got for now.

yes. i definitely recommend them.
they dont really have any songs that i would consider shameful for listening to. theyre really pop-punk, but they really do have legit lyrics and passion in their songs.

If you ask me Valencia are one of the most talented bands, in any genre, making music today. NO reason to be ashamed of listening to them.

I hate the fact that poor Chevelle and Taproot get coupled into the "cock rock/stupid mainstream radio metal" genre so easily...

I have a strong love for alternative-piano rock like OneRepublic (only Dreaming Out Loud), the Fray, and recently the Script. I know there's more, but I can't think of it at the moment.

If I'm walking to class, I think it'd be a little weird for someone to catch me listening to "You Can't Hurry Love" or "Heat Wave"...mostly because a lot people have never heard those songs.

I mean it doesn't stop me from listening to the music, its just something that some of my friends would probably make fun of me for listening to.

I just downloaded The Heyday's album. I've only listened through a few times, so I can't really tell if the lyrics have much substance. It's really good feel good pop though. Think early Format + Sherwood.

I honestly walk around school singing "You Can't Hurry Love." I honestly don't know why, though... I'm not a die-hard Motown listener or anything... It just pops in my head and out my mouth sometimes. :)
Anyway... Just thought I'd share that haha
