View Full Version : The fact that this band is still so unknown is absolutely ridiculous!

My most listened to album of the year and #2 on my list for album of the year for 2009 is an album called "Living Like This" by the band Skylines Calling.
Today I went to their myspace to take a look and see if they have any new big things coming for 2010, any new music, tours, etc...and I realized that they didn't even have very many friends, as far as myspace bands go at least, most of their blogs go without comment, I didn't see their album on any "best of 2009" lists, and it seems this bands album just went by very much so unnoticed. This annoys me...hopefully this thread will inspire some people to check them out.
Their stuff reminds me of the first Just Surrender album "If These Streets Could Talk" with touches of old TBS and Novice as well. Very catchy, upbeat, energetic type stuff. The only song I'm not that huge a fan of on their album is Samoa Beach which serves as a change of pace song for them.
My favorite to tracks were "While You Were Out" and "A Million Pieces".
Definitely go and check this band out...it's a shame so many people seem to have missed out on them:

And no...I do not know the band, nor am I in it...I've never even seen them live yet...I just really enjoyed the album. Maybe some of you won't like it because it doesn't fit your genre preference or musical taste...but I know that this album will have many many people hooked in no time!

Has it ever occurred to you that maybe the band (or your musical taste) is just not that good?
[EDIT] Too synth-y/autotuned for me. :-(

Autotune kills it for me.

Why are people still using auto-tune? If I remember clearly Jay-Z pronounced it dead.

To the OP, I totally agree. This album made it into my top 10 for 2009. The artwork was also quite awesome.

I'm still wondering why this band isn't signed yet.

They're unknown cause they have absolutely no originality. Stereotypical myspace synth-pop band, sorry man.

Listening to "Million Pieces," not really impressed. I agree with inyoursea, I'm not hearing any originality or anything that sets them apart from the gazillion other bands who make this sort of pop/rock

Shh don't remind people. It'd be a shame if he lost his license to practice medicine. Malpractice is no fun.

There was nothing unique about these guys. Not bad, but nothing that makes them stand out really.

I dismissed them almost immediately once the blatant autotuning came into play. Not my cup of tea.

Listened to the first 40 seconds of Samoa Beach, had to turn it off before my ears bled.
Thought to myself, "maybe just a bag song" so I tried out When the Lights Goes Out. Had to turn it off 20 seconds in to it.
I'll give them one more chance so I gave to a listen A Million Pieces, yet again had to turn it off after the first 30 seconds.
Terrible music. /2cents

Interesting choice for this site. Not bad, but definitely a genre different from this website.

I got two bands that I think aren't that known imo.
Asobi Seksu and Reverie Sound Revue.
