He's coming out with a new album, These Hopeful Machines, on Feb 2nd. It sounds like a phenominal step-up from This Binary Universe.

Any other BT fans out there?

:jawdrop: oh my god. i never in a million years thought i'd see a BT thread on ap. i used to be a serious BT fangirl. I have every single thing he's ever released and some stuff that has never been released officially. my vinyl collection of his is ridiculous, if i may say so myself.

i stopped following him quite as intently after the release of Emotional Technology (it's my least favorite thing he's done) but Ima and ESCM are some of the most incredibly beautiful, innovative, and well-produced music that has ever been made. This Binary Universe was a good concept but I never find myself listening to it. The movie was pretty awesome, did you get to see it? Have you ever seen BT live?

This is so exciting, I am stoked to see another BT fan on ap. :-d

Awesome, yeah I never really got into his older stuff, I was first introduced to him through This Binary Universe, but I was completely blown away. I also like his soundtrack for Monster, some of the tracks on there are insane.

If you're talking about the music videos for TBU then yes. Some of the craziest audiovisual art I have seen. Sometimes I throw the disc in on the TV if I have a bunch of people over as background.

Yeah his new album seems to be a mix between his older house music and his newer TBU style. "Every Other Way" is pure bliss.

Also, I love your avatar. MiFaMi seriously changed my musical style for the better and it influenced my life so much, haha. good tastes

I haven't listened to any of his solo stuff, but Masters of the Universe is goddamn fantastic.

EDIT- Oops, wrong artist. But seriously, everyone go listen to Masters of the Universe.

If you haven't heard his score from the film Under Suspicion, you must. Let me know if you can't find it and I can see what I can do. Also, his score for the film Go! is pretty awesome.

You say you never got into his older stuff, do you have ESCM? If not, you really should try listening to it again. There's really nothing like it.

When TBU came out, BT went on a film screening tour which I was lucky enough to catch in Dallas. The film was shown in a movie theater and he came with his daughter, Kaia, and answered questions and spoke about the creation of the film. It was very cool. I'm glad you've got the video so you can see it, it's really special.

Thanks about my avatar. TREOS is one of my favorite bands of all time. I'm hoping to catch their reunion in MA at Skatefest since I've never gotten to see them live before. :)

You have very good taste in music as well.

I know only one song. BELIEVER, and that song is the shit. I'm always raving it up whenever I hear it, like today in my car. Heard it off a sweet movie I own called Go

Wow that's awesome! Did he ever get his daughter back? I heard she was kidnapped but never heard anything else about that.

I don't personally own any of his music besides TBU. I'm going to have to listen to ESCM then, and I'll try to get a hold of his score for Under Suspicion. Thanks for the suggestions!

Also, I just listened to These Hopeful Machines, and it is excellent! Makes me want to go rave

He did get his daughter back about a week or so later. The whole thing was blown out of proportion quite a bit in my opinion but then again i wasn't there to witness it personally so who can say what really went down?

were you/are you a raver? i'm a bit older than the general ap population and i will proudly admit to having been a raver for a solid 10 year span of my life (ending ~2002) but i don't go to parties anymore and pretty much burnt myself out on all electronic music and went back to listening to post-hardcore, etc. which is why i now fit in on ap, lol.
