Whether you are aware of it or not, you are probably familiar with Massive Attack. You probably hear them on your TV every Monday night.

I just picked up Mezzanine, and it's my second ever foray into trip hop, and I'm pleased with the result. Mezzanine is a murky, sludgy album with buzz and beat aplenty which satisfies experimentation as well as pop sensibility. I feel as though I can draw parallels between Mezzanine and the Dust Brothers' work for the Fight Club OST, which is great for me because I don't have a lot of options to satisfy that kind of craving.
Anyhow, apparently they have a new album coming out in February, Heligoland, but until then, I'm wondering which album to try on next. Advise. Shit, advise me on additional trip hop artists too.

Huh. I like that song. Maybe I should better acquaint myself with this group. I wouldn't bet on that happening anytime soon, as I probably have enough music to keep me busy for while, but I'll make my way back to this eventually.
Also, pity post because I hate it when a friend of min makes a thread, and it's not very active.

I actually don't mind when my threads drop off the first page as soon as I make them. I always expect that, and am then pleasantly surprised months later if someone actually posts in it.

Doesn't someone have a Mezzanine avatar? I forget who. I'm sure discussion will develop here eventually.

I adore Teardrop, and Mezzanine is a fantastic album. I haven't listened to any of their other material though.

I just started listening to them the other day. After hearing Tricky and loving everything he's done, I decided to get more trip hop stuff. I've only listened to Mezzanine as well though, so I can't help you there.

Love these guys, they've released some great albums. I got into them through my love old traditional ska & reggae. I heard Horace Andy had featured his vocals for some eclectic soundsystem type group, & thought straight away that I must hear the results. Loved everything about Massive Attack from that outing onwards.

Mezzanine and 100th Window are both fantastic records, but their earlier stuff hasn't hooked me much and I haven't heard the new album yet.

Mezzanine is a great album, often praised as their best work across their fans & critics, but their other work is a little different, so don't expect to find Mezzanine part 2. I'm not entirely sure, but I think a lot of people rate 100th Window? It's a good album, but I'd suggest Blue Lines before that, although some people can't get into some of the vocals. Both great albums. In conclusion: many will say 100th Window, but I say Blue Lines haha. Make of that what you will my friend.

Unfinished Sympathy is a brilliant song. Makes the whole of Blue Lines for me.
