According to RJA's twitter account. Ronnie, the lead vocalist, has stated in the most recent two tweets, a new CD is coming out in May.

As a fan of the first CD, and only a fan of a few songs off Lonely Road, this is a bold and daring move, which either will pay off in a huge way, or not at all, and possibly ruin their career. Lonely Road was bad, not the worst CD ever, but pretty bad. Dont You Fake It was a great CD, with some of the catchier tracks of the past decade, and they owned the scene for a few years becuase of that CD alone. This CD realistically cannot get worse than Lonely Road, fans can only hope itll bring them back to their Dont You Fake It success.

How is putting out a CD a "bold and daring move"?

Sorry, I meant to add that it is a bold move after only releasing Lonely Road a little over a year ago. That is pretty quick since the last one. Considering it was 3 years almost between the debut and Loney Road.

I wouldn't care either way.

I am sure alot of people will not care. But, there would also be people who may not care for the stuff you like as well, so if you don't care, why comment at all?

RJA never came close to "owning the scene." 80% of AP users probably can't name a song besides "Face Down"

I think the funniest thing about RJA is the wide range of opinions. People either love them, hate them, could care less, or split.

warpedFr3ak

RJA did extremely well in concert sales, CD and merch sales, they were also voted to perform longer than scheduled on over 60%of the warped dates on 2007. That is pretty good consdiering who else was on the main stage that year. The thing that sucks ahout AP, is you have 14-20 year olds on here who are angry little kids and all they care about is listening to grunt msuic because they are unhappy. Kids, music w/o screaming is ok!!!

I'm really hoping they return to the sound of the first CD. If they decide to continue with what they did on Lonely Road, then their career is over. I definitely wouldn't support them anymore.

If the new one is anything like Lonely Road, say goodbye to this band, and any fans that it may have still holding on. I'm hoping for geat things but I dunno if we should get too excited yet after that last disappointment.

Don't You Fake It was alright I guess. New one was complete shit though. They need to ditch the slow cheesy songs. Stick with stuff like Face Down and In Fate's Hands.

Unless RJA can invent a time machine to take them back to 2007 when they had scene kids eating out of the palm of their hands, there is no way this band is going to escape the one hit wonder tag and not fade into obscurity. Let's face it, their last record was a flat out fucking failure, it literally went nowhere. This band went from being a popular band that was one of the big headliners on Warped, had a gold record and was all over the place to a band that pretty much fell off the face of the earth. If the past year wasn't an indicator to this band's 15 minutes being up, then I don't know what else would be.

just completely flat.

I really don't. There's no way they can top the popularity of their first album.
And putting out a new record again so soon? Nah, I don't think it'll happen.

I am a RJA fan, and I can agree with many of you that, some of their live performances are not very good. Typically it has a lot to depend on Ronnie's mood. When RJA was ontop of the world in 2006-2007, they were very good live. They knew people digged them, and there was less pressure. Now, he doesnt and rightfully so, doesnt have much confidence in the songs off Lonely Road, and he is worried what people are thinking. A smart move would to go back to warped tour, go back to the old stuff only, and if the new stuff works, then play that too.

If the new record turns out any good I'll pick it up, mostly because their first work was great, and I'm from their hometown originally.
If it sucks it's game over in my book.

Lonely Road wasn't that bad, but I believe if it was a debut from a different band without the shadow of DYFI, alot more people would've liked it. No screaming?? yes that sucked, but hopefully this new one combines the good of both, and is AWESOME

warpedFr3ak
02/02/10, 04:51 PM
From what I hear, I have heard they may be leaving Virgin records and releasing the record themselves. So, with that, I am sure there will be some of the old screams and heavier stuff. THe last producer they or Virgin chsoe on Lonely Road has ruined the sound of a lot of other bands as well.

Guess we shall see. SOTY couldn't really recover from a bad CD. But obviously others have. And like I said, a lot of Lonely Road's disappointment I think was due to Virgin Records/Capitol. Saosin's latest CD sucked ass compared to their debut. Like the new one, was, weird. COmpeletely different sound, and less heavy, much like RJA's fate. And they are on same label. I wonder if it has something to do with that?

if they were the worst live band you've ever seen, then either you don't see alot of bands or you Aussis hold bands to a very very high standard.
I wonder what you would rate, say, Linkin Park live?

warpedFr3ak

RJA isn't amazing live, but they definitely are not the worst. HIM is awful. LP is semi-ok. Fall Out Boy sucks live. The list goes on and on. Rarely do bands sound CD quality live. It is just a hard thing to do. Give every badn credit for doing stuff we cannot do. They are talented whether we want to admit it or not. I dont like rap music, but they do what they do well.

Like I have mentioned, I think they play their crowd pleasers (Face Down, In fates Hands, False Pretense, and Justify) very well...others such as (Misery, You BEttery Pray, Waiting, Atrophy, 17, etc,) they struggle to play well because he doesnt have the confidence int he crowd and himself. He must know that people are digging it or its a FAIL.

They aren't the worst live I think, when they performed in a mall here last year they were pretty solid, the crowd got into it, maybe they sucked after that?

Like someone said before, if "Lonely Road" was their debut everyone would have loved it. "Don't You Fake It" I believe will always be what they are remembered for, no matter how many albums they bring out, I don't know how much more perfect you can get. Though, I just think a lot of you have narrow music tastes, but that's just me making an assumption.

Mayday Parade is suffering the same thing, except Mayday Parade will never recover because the brains behind the band (Jason Lancaster) is gone, and the rest of the band is a bunch of tools. I love how they tried to write lyrics like Jason did, by mentioning cities, but it just failed completely.

....and yes, Fall Out Boy sucks live. Has anyone ever heard Patrick Stump sing in tune before? Cause I haven't, and this is coming from a fan of the band.
