seems like there's one of these every week now.
this is a sports forum. nascar doesn't belong here.

Bullsh*t... instead of just responding to something you dont like, try looking up the true definition of an athlete, then try looking up what a driver has to go through during a race. Not only physically but mentally. Then tell me if they its a sport or not. Most people here wouldn't last 20 laps but im sure its much harder to last 9 innings in a baseball game...

I like all forms of sports (football, baseball, golf, etc.) and i'm able to see that racing IS a sport, just like anything else out there.
"There are only three sports - bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely games." - Ernest Hemingway
... not that you care though because you're probably "too punk rock" to care. Such a bad ass telling me to lick your balls. Gold star for you.

hemingway was suspected of aiding communists in cuba, isnt that like worthy of a death sentence for you nascar zealots?

im not trying to fight here, I just think these guys should deserve some credit for what they do. Most people don't understand how difficult it actually is.

i don't think anyone here said "i could do what they do"
most people just like watching things that involve more than turning left

They don't only turn left. They run a couple road courses a year and will probably add more in the comming years. Plus Formula 1, who runs only road courses, just lost one of their stars to NASCAR. Not everyone agrees on this and that, but I think it's time that, not just NASCAR, but all forms of Motorsports be included in the Sports catagory. When you open the newspaper, what section is it in? sports. When you wanna see highlights, what channel do you turn to? probably ESPN. Now I know not everyone agrees with the dictionary but sport is defined as: Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs often engaged in competitively... Anyway this debate would go on and on. I see it as a sport, you might not. Oh well.
i dont like any motor racing personally but i do apreciate that nascar has alot more to it than just 'turning left'... for instance positioning, timing, tactics, skill, awareness, quick reactions.

i admire you for giving up when something is beaten to death. it's a lost art around here.

Hm...apparently Ernest Hemingway was a redneck then, he named three redneck activities and called them "sports."

Oh, defintely, I would not last a second in that kind of heat, you can lose like over 10 pounds during a single race from sweating, that's just insane. although, I also agree with what that person said afterwards, how Nascar is a form of entertainment, because it is (well, all sports are really), that's one reason I'm hjoping I can score some free tickets to the homestead race in Florida later this year, its so bloody expensive sometimesm luckily I found this napa fanniversary contest (http://napa.fanamp.com/?L2878) thingy.
and did Hemmingway really say that, or was it that other Ernest guy (worrell or something?)?

Some people say he never said that but then again some people say he did. Either way it's a pretty good quote and definately makes some sense. Seeing that those three are really the most life threatening "sports" out there. But yes I do agree that whether you believe that is a sport or this is a sport, it's all entertainment in the end. I enjoy Motorsports as much as I enjoy football and baseball. I give all these athletes credit. I believe they are all sports in their own way.

I don't think anyone here is punk, btw...you spent far too much time trying to change your font, colors and so forth. Just type what you need to type
on the other hand, truex jr is from my town. he got into racing because he had alot of money because his dad sold a bunch of coke.
Nascar does not take as much talent as other forms of racing.
