I have to choose one of the following topics for my essay and I'm not really sure which to choose because I'm not extremely passionate about any of them. So I'd love to hear some feedback!

1. CIR #7 – “Should Canadian Troops Be Deployed to Darfur Rather than Afghanistan?”

2. CIR #9 – “Has Globalization Been Detrimental to Women?”

3. CIR #11 – “Is [Global] Development Assistance Effective?”

4. CIR #15 – “Do We Need an International Criminal Court?”

5. CIR #17 – “Do We Need a World Environment Organization?”

Don't know how long your paper will be but I feel like there should be plenty of points to talk about with #2 or 4. I don't even know what #3 is

2 and 5 are the most compelling of the options. I'd probably lean towards 5 because there are a slew of different issues that hit me right off the bat which can be delved into at length(climate change, national sovereignty, etc.).

Personally I'd do #3, but I do have an interest in economics. Out of interest, what course are you studying?

Definitely 4. Since globalization is marching on, I think this issue will be paramount in the decades to come.

Two, which I would love to read if it becomes your final subject.

#3 would be the hardest and would require alot of economics

I'm with GeeBee, four is the way to go. The US refusal to join the ICC is one of the biggest unknown controversies of our time.

I ended up going with #4. I was going to do #1, but I'm much more interested in international issues.

This is going to be interesting. I almost want to make a thread about it because I think it would make for a good discussion. Plus, I'm not exactly sure where I stand on the issue and I'd like to hear other people's opinions.

Awesome.

I think it'll fracture into two camps: the Sovreignty argument, and the Globalization argument. Should be a good thread.

I think #1 would have been interesting, but that's just the sort of thing I'm into.

Yup, pretty much. I would use UN and EU courts as references.
