part of fox's deal when they took over a bunch of NBC franchises back in the 90's was that they'd give the 9/10 o'clock time slot back to the individual stations...its the same with the 10:30/11:30 time slot, which is gonna make it next to impossible for them to sign connan.

Acting, characters, subject...I had no problem with the show. But the writting was very weak, reminded me alot of the Beast from last summer in terms of written quality.

either we watched something different, or you're more forgiving than I. but that was about as basic as tv story telling gets. the viewer could pretty much outline exactly how everything was gonna go before it happened....I can't say that I'm really impressed by that, even if I happen to like the show.

the ratings were a big issue, after the high numbers of the pilot they drop considerable for awhil...that's why I thought the show was doomed, I guess they've leveled off recently and thats why FX renewed. I quit watching after the 3 episode, but I hear its gotten better now that its no long tied to the novel series.

I think it stems from the show not being what people expected at all. That was my gripe at first (I wanted another serial ala The Shield, Deadwood) but it has came into its own and is really, really great.

I still say Parks and Rec is the most improved show of the year, but GODDAMN is this a close second. Once they got off the goddamn "mystery of the week" format I was absolutely hooked. Last five (or so) episodes were killer.
This is good to hear. I'm on episode 4 and so far only the pilot and dentist episodes really got me. Should there be an episode I can start on later in the season and not have to go through all the filler?

This season has been pretty damn good so far. I have a similar opinion of last season as TJ does, but I think it helped set a lot of depth up for the characters who moved on into season two (Raylan, Boyd, Ava, Winona, etc) at the same time, so I can stomach the repetitiveness in retrospect because it's set the stage for the last 8 episodes or so which have been excellent

Absolutely brilliant. Loved that scene at the bating cage too. “Guess you should know how to obey the law.” Seeing a slightly less spirited Raylan is fun to watch. Olyphant been doing some nice work here.

Episode was fucking amazing.

From the town hall scene, to the explanation of the Bennet-Givens feud, to the shoot out, and probably my favorite scene of the entire show Rayland getting his ass kicked? As hard as this is to watch, it was just brilliant.

I can't believe we are only a little bit over halfway through the season.

The build up has been so crazy, I would have believed someone if they told me the finale was next week.

Margo Martindale's acting in the final scene when she arrives at the crime scene was nothing short of incredible. And the scene between Boyd, Mags, and Carol was so satisfying. I don't think Carol is a bad person really, but I have very little sympathy for her and loved seeing her ass get pwned by Boyd and Mags.

One of the best episodes of the series, maybe the best thus far.

Astonishingly good episode. Loved that opening scene and the fight with Raylan and Dickkie. That last scene was brutal though. Blown away by how every episode has gotten better than the one before it. Really looking forward to next week's episode.

Good episode tonight. I like how Raylan's identity as a US Marshal is starting to unravel.

I'll miss Helen, but at least she went out with the best line of the night ("Arlo's gonna make that knee feel like a handjob from an angel." lololololol). Although Tim's "I love this shit, it gets me hard" line was just as good.

I have to say, I still feel uncomfortable about Boyd and Ava's romantic relationship. I saw it coming from a mile away, like I'm sure everyone did, but there's something about it that is just weird to me. Either Ava has some kind of agenda, or she's just dumber than I gave her credit for.
