I mean, worst case scenario -- you download it for free, listen, hate it, and delete it.

Best case -- you enjoy it and it's free.

Just to clarify:

When you download the album, you'll be prompted to enter your e-mail address. We think that since we're giving you the album for free, a fair "payment" would be giving us a way to follow up and stay in touch with you.

However, we promise -- no SPAM, no bi-weekly newsletters and no time-wasting e-mails. This also serves as a way for us to track where our fans are from and how many people are interested in our tunes. Thanks for understanding, and if you enjoy the album, burn it and give it to your friends -- or tell them to download it here: http://acommonyear.bandcamp.com

Thanks! You guys rock.

Hey man, I'm a senior at Purdue right now. We recorded some of the record at my house here. We unfortunately haven't played a show here yet, but are booking one on Grand Prix weekend at Purdue. If you want to try to set another one up, that'd be cool too!

zrac99
02/23/10, 03:57 AM
Well, theres a new place in Lafayette that is an actual legit venue now called The Underground. We played to a nearly full room of people and its a pretty sweet place. Not looking for the cheap plug, but if you'd like to see pictures of how packed the place can be you can look at some of our pictures from the show at www.myspace.com/theripvanwinklecaper. Also, i am setting up a show very soon at a high school in attica, indiana, and i'd love to have you guys play there as well. I've booked Close to Home and We Came as Romans to play there with my band before.

So I have a question for everyone...

When people find out I'm in a band, they always pose the inevitable "Oh, who do you guys sound like?" question. People don't realize that it's a terribly difficult question to answer. I never know how to respond -- so I'm asking you all. Do we sound like anyone in particular? Who do we remind you of?

Well I can hear the Jimmy Eat world and Brand New influences that you mention in your title. I don't really listen to Acceptance so I can't really comment on whether you sound like them, but I don't think you sound like Paramore. So I guess I'd agree with half of your title. I can hear some Anberlin in your sound, especially in a song like 'A Final Word'. The start of 'Be Good, Be True' reminds me a bit of Alkaline Trio. As a whole though there's plenty of pop-punky influences in the style of The Get Up Kids or New Found Glory to latch on to on the album, but there's definitely something more, especially 'Live and Learn' which reminds me of some of the slower moments of Manchester Orchestra or As Cities Burn.

Here are a few random videos from days past:

Video 1 -- Taken from some fun recording done at Ball State's studio in Muncie, Indiana. None of these recordings ended up on the album, but it's a fun little video. The song featured on the video is an old demo called "For the Best." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtLj1kiFrd0

Videos 2 & 3 -- Just a couple short, promotional videos Coleman and I created for our MySpace shortly after the band started. Yeah, we're dorks. MySpace was still slightly cool then.

in my opinion, two thumbs up! this album is fantastic from start to finish; it starts off catchy as fuck with Distance, Awake, and Used to this and continues to rock with mellower songs like Don't take me seriously, Time is on your side and Solstice.
With catchy riffs, solid harmonizing and toe tapping arrangements, what more could I ask for?

Hey I just downloaded it. I'm liking what I hear so far. Thanks and good luck with your band :-)

I enjoy checking out local stuff, I'll subscribe so I remember to give it a spin

I downloaded it today. Really enjoying it thus far. At the moment, my favorite is Distance as well.

http://images9.cafepress.com/product/405519949v6_225x225_Front.jpg

On your bandcamp, it says yo apparently have members from west lafayette indiana? I'm from right outside of west lafayette and i've never heard of you guys. you guys ever play shows around here? I'd be willing to set a show up if so.

I suck where naming influences is concerned. But I really enjoyed listening to the album all the same. Thanks very much, it helped pass a long, sleepless night nicely. :-)

i like

Time Is On Your Side is by far my favorite, it's incredible.
Also, what is the song Bluest Skies from? That's what got me into you guys.

in my opinion, two thumbs up! this album is fantastic from start to finish; it starts off catchy as fuck with Distance, Awake, and Used to this and continues to rock with mellower songs like Don't take me seriously, Time is on your side and Solstice.
With catchy riffs, solid harmonizing and toe tapping arrangements, what more could I ask for?

thank you so much for the download; i am definitely a fan

I like the album a lot. Good job guys.

I barely post on here but just wanted to say this album is awesome. For real. Impressed with just about every track. Good stuff.

I'm listening to the songs on Myspace at the moment and I like them so far, great work. :)

I'll probably download the album when I get my desktop back from being repaired since right now I'm on my laptop with a tiny hard drive. ><

Downloaded! Listened to some of the songs online and I really like em.

Great stuff! I was convinced to download the album by the first song alone. Keep up the good work!

Hey everyone.

First of all, we want to sincerely thank all of you for taking time out of your lives to check out a band you'd never heard of. We're so excited about the positive reactions we've received, and we're frankly flattered by how nice and helpful many of you have been to us.

Secondly, if you're still digging the music, we'd love for you to become an official "fan" of ours on our AP.net profile. We'd like to reach at least 100 fans so we can all get those fancy BLUE name profiles -- so we can be more easily recognized as members of ACY within the AP community, and perhaps gain a little more notoriety.

Finally, if you REALLY dig the tunes, and would like to keep in touch, visit our new mini-site (http://www.acommonyear.com), where you can:

- follow us on twitter @acommonyear
- "Like" us on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/acommonyear
- Ask us anything on Formspring at http://www.formspring.me/acommonyear

By all means, feel no obligation to do any of the above. Those are just options for people who wish to stay in better contact.

OK, seriously, LAST THING: We were chosen as a finalist in Alter the Press' Soundcloud compilation contest. Please take 10 seconds to visit http://www.alterthepress.com/2010/07/alter-press-201003-soundcloud_11.html and vote for "A Final Word" to be featured on their compilation album.

Congrats to you guys...love the music. I'm your friend on last.fm (creepy, stalkerish behavior haha)

Oh well...I'm a fan of the team, not the players. Sure, it sucks to lose Lebron, but whatever. We can move forward now without his often bad attitude and seemingly lack of spirit in the playoffs. I agree..he can be a dick.
