I chose In Shallow Seas because I thought it was consistent throughout, and mature yet still catchy. The Question would be my second choice.

I only answer the Question because I played it for 3 years on a consistent basis. #2 is definitely in shallow seas, #3 the weak's end. I'm sorry, I'm Only A Man was terrible.

The Weak's End was my jam for most of senior year in h.s.

The Question. The deluxe edition is even better. The acoustic version of Ponytail Parades is so fantastic.

Gotta go with The Question for this one.

The Weak's End is my personal favorite as far as overall albums go. In Shallow Seas We Sail was good, but I was growing out of this genre when it came out, so it hasn't really clicked with me. I probably would have loved it if I had heard it two years ago.
Also, there's a Poll Forum for these kind of threads. Not a big deal, but you might want to keep that in mind for future reference.
I'd have to say the Weak's End.
The demo that they made before it is really really good too though.
I choose i'm only a man,as it was the easiest one to read.

I've only heard ...In Shallow Seas We Sail, so I guess that one. I really enjoy it, though.

It was close between TWE and TQ. I've enjoyed every single album though. Here it goes for me:
The Question > The Weak's End > I'm Only A Man > In Shallow Seas We Sail

I voted The Weak's End but it's pretty much a tie between that and The Question.

I like that CD but it doesn't get me emotional like their first two albums. I have no emotional attachment to it.

Fair enough. ISSWS was the first Emery album I actually listened to, and I related to it personally. All their albums are still amazing IMO.

In Shallow Seas... is so dope, I'm really loving the counter-melodies Devin and Toby came up with all over the record.

The Question, very cohesive album, everything just fits well, I don't know why but I can't get into ISSWS as much as I would like, save for a few songs, i think edge of the world is one of their best songs. And I really enjoyed IOAM, thought it was a great cd.
The Question > IOAM > TWE > ISSWS

between the question and weaks end....TWE is classic but I had to give it to the question...catchiest screamo album ever imo

I'm Only A Man is the one I go back to the most. I think it has the single best moment in an Emery song so far within "What Makes A Man A Man" when the song commences and runs through it's second(?) verse, starting with "I wish I could live where the sea meets the land..."

The Weak's End is undoubtedly their best album. I think the musicianship is well beyond any album they put out afterward, even though I enjoy all their records. I remember being really disappointed when The Question first came out, but I've learned to accept that it was sort of a fresh start for them, as nothing they've done since then has really sounded similar to The Weak's End.

i love all of them and they all are my AOTYs, but i chose the question because it got me into them and when i saw them in concert for the first time, they only had the quesiton and weak's end

The Question, so hard. Followed by In Shallow Seas We Sail. I just got The Weak's End and I'm Only a Man, we'll see how those fair.
I remember having The Weaks End in my CD player for weeks at a time. I can listen to it over and over. Beautiful.

Boom. Question and weaks end are very very close though. I have better memories with weaks end so it got my vote.

I think you will find the Weaks End far superior to both of those by the time you get familiar with it.

Gotta go with The Question, though The Weaks End and ...In Shallow Seas We Sail are both close behind.

I'd have to say I'm Only A Man because it got me through some tough times but The Question is a close second as it was in constant rotation for about 2 years and I saw them live right after it came out. All of their material is solid I just don't think enough people gave IOAM enough of a chance and dismissed it because it's different than the rest of their stuff. I felt the same way when I first heard it but after giving it a fair chance it's an amazing album.

I love every Emery a loooot. Just based on time spent listening to an album I chose The Question (although I may have actually listened to The Weak's End more). But the deluxe edition with the all of the acoustic stuff was absolutely fantastic.
I think their entire catalog is way, way underrated. I include I'm Only a Man in that statement, too. This band has written some stunning music.
PS and after reading through the thread I think it's awesome how many people have very different opinions on the order of what albums they like the most. I think it says something really good about the music.

Hahaha, says the guy with the poppy Christian worship band for an avatar. That genre was stale after Amy Grant caught syphilis and died.

Then you don't know what musicianship is. The drumming in TWE is not half as good as the replacement in the subsequent albums, and the time-signature shifts in TQ leave TWE in the dust. The bolded statement is patently false.

That's actually the only classic Newsboys song I dig, but their new album will have Michael Tait doing lead vocals, and I love all things dc Talk, so yeah. He's got a great voice and hasn't done anything significant in years, so I'm definitely pumped to pick up Born Again this summer.

Your rebuttal is laughable at best. The musicianship as a whole is much better on The Weak's End. Shifts in time signatures don't dictate musical ability. It's one thine to disagree with me, it's another thing to assume I don't know what musicianship is. That just makes you look foolish. Say what you will, but the guitar work in itself is much better on The Weak's End than it is on any of their subsequent albums. Of course, if you consider the drums to be the only thing to rate their musicianship by, then I guess they've been fairly, 'okay' throughout their existence.

Laughable as it may be...I'd challenge you to put it to a poll. I'd wager you're in the minority.

lol how is The Weak's End not winning this?
Better lyrics. Better guitar work. Better overall sound. No filler (which every other album had). More passion.
I'm really surprised that The Question is winning this. I'm not saying the other records are bad (except IOAM was BAD), but TWE is just far superior to me. Plus their live show pre The Question was way better (again not saying it's bad now but when you see them live you see how much more pumped they are for their older songs).

That's irrelevant, really. My opinion is still my own. I don't need the opinions of others to validate my point.

Fair enough. Opinions are just that. I guess guitar-wise, I can kindof see where you're coming from.
