View Full Version : Bands as Movies

Me and my friend got into a discussion about what bands would stand for certain movies. I know its pretty stupid, but I wanted to see what everyone else thought. It started out when I said Led Zeppelin would be "The Godfather" due to both being considered the best in their categories. I'd say that Pink Floyd would be "A Clockwork Orange"..."The Wall" would be too obvious.
Then It got into different genres:
Early Punk would either be the horror movies from the 70s or classic comedies like "Animal House".
80s Metal would be the 80s horror movies like "Friday the 13th" or "Sleepaway Camp".
"Pop Punk" (fuck it thats what I'm calling it) like Blink and NOFX would be the 90s comedies like "Happy Gilmore" or "Tommy Boy".
Bands like Brokencyde would be "Meet the Spartans" or "Date Movie"...just because everyone hates them and somehow they keep coming.
Its pretty dumb, yeah, but I thought it'd be fun to see what other people thought.

Actually, given the quirky yet happy neuroticism that pervades both, I'd put Say Anything (the band) as High Fidelity.

ok then.
fall out boy is terribly disgraceful music with minimal depth, poor musicianship, and medio-core at best lyrics.
donnie darko is one of the most artistically thought-provoking movies ever created.

theres depth to fallout boy? and theres good musicianship on display? and "im 2 quarters and a heart down" [aka a heart and a half, when it could easily say 3/4 or 1/4 and make sense] is a good lyric? come on. those are facts. you lose.

I always thought that meant like hes down 50 cents for the jukebox. That'd make more sense.
On another note, I don't see the FOB/Donnie Darko comparison, but this was a completely opinion based thread so its all good.
