It starts tomorrow...

I think Tiger Woods has a better shot at making his money off the 25:1 odds that he punches Nick Faldo than he does winning it...

My money is on Montgomerie to do something I haven't seen from him...not choke

I'm going to go with Jim Furyk.

It's Tiger...5 irons are running like 330 yards, and considering the reason he's been sucking has been his tee game and not his ball striking, i like his chances of dominating this course without ever pulling out the big stick.

Dark Horse: Padraig Harrington.

maybe golf > the atlanta hawks... but uh... yeah, golf is easily the most boring sport ever. any sport where its frowned upon to be loud and belligerant as a fan can suck it.

You always go with Furyk.

My money is on Trevor Immelman or Tiger.

haha, i know. but his game fits the majors, i think. moreso the us open than anything, but whatever. I just don't think tiger will win this tourney.

I present to you figure skating..

any sport where its frowned upon to be loud and belligerant as a fan can suck it.
I dunno...I've seen some rowdy fans at these things. Plus, to any person that actually plays golf, I basically bring a cooler with me and drink as I play my round...so it's not too bad

okay figure skating also isnt shoved down my throat by sportscenter every day either. obviously im not taking into account fringe sports that get little to no coverage.

if you don't play it, then you won't like it. it's only a fan sport if you can understand the strategy going on.

and it sounds like if you do play, or you have, that you completely suck. but that's alright, so does 99% of America.

sergio is in his element. Finished -4 and one off the lead.

Other notables:
Greg Owen (who?) finished -5 and is in the lead as we speak
Ernie Els, Mike Weir and Jim Furyk all finished -4.
Philly Mick finished -3.
John Daly actually shot even par.
Tiger just started his round.

Bigmike, Furyk is a good pick. His accuracy combined with the rolling fairways should put him right in contention on Sunday.

I would love for this to be the week that Sergio finally busts out and wins ...but I like Mike Weir this week. I think his excellent putting stroke and his driving accuracy will keep him steady all week while the others around him might begin to falter as the course becomes tougher to play.

I'm in a pool for it. Pick 3 players top money wins. if you pick same player as someone else you split the winnings.

Tiger
Couples
Garcia

Im taking Lefty. after his choke in the U.S. open hes gonna want this one
I also think theres a good chance somebody gets lost in the rough. literally.
either that or somebody wanders into one of thouse haunted castles and never comes out.

if he's within a stroke or two after tomorrow, he'll run away with it over the weekend.

I agree with Jim Rome, this course is a fucking joke. I'm all for making it tough or whatever, but please, water it. That's disgusting and it makes me not want to watch them play on what equals a parking lot. might as well hold it in the streets of london then.

Haha...me and my dad heard Rome as well, and when we saw the course, my dad asked "Where is the green?"

It's like playing in a dirt lot...sure it's got it's quirks, but there is a limit to it...and when a guy can use a putter our of the bunker, something is seriously fucked up with your course

haha, exactly. there's like a small beginner's public course near my house. it's 9 holes and meant for dad's to take their younger kids to teach them how to play. like the longest hole is like 255 or something. but it get's no water and is completely brown, doesn't mean it should be holding the next US open or anything.

preppyak

I was so confused...they played it like 4 times on replay, and every time I assumed it was a sand wedge with an odd shape or something...and then they mentioned it was a putter, and I just turned my head in disbelief.

I guess the course is impressive in that it forces the players to be incredibly creative in their shot making, but it also just looks like a trash dump

yeah, we have a par 66 course near me that I play on all the time...I had the same thought.

The fact that they are setting course records (multiple people) and are running for the lowest rounds ever in a British Open means that the course isn't playing particularly tough

i'd like to see els slip away in the next round and have tiger and sergio go shot for shot.

i think it's gonna be an interesting final round.
