Halifax (http://www.absolutepunk.net/halifax) will be on Last Call with Carson Daly TONIGHT at 1:35am on NBC. Tune in to see a live performance of their song, "Our Revolution."

Man this show is not funny. Carson Daly tries so hard to be Conan, but fails miserably.

I will admit he has good bands come on a lot, though. Other than that, this show blows.

If there are any fans of 80's rock here, you should automatically notice that this song is a BLATANT rip off of Motley Crue's "Kickstart My Heart". The chorus riff is a tad different. Motley's vocals go "OHH YEAH", Halifax replaced that part with "HELL YEAH"......... wow. Thus, my profund hatred for a good 90% of modern music ha.

Its pretty comical actually, yet sad at the same time. I'm all about writing whatever is in your heart and whatever you enjoy the most. Great, go for it. But, at the same time, it blows me away that on many occasions today, current professional bands don't have enough general knowledge on music as a whole to speak up in the writing process and say, "Guys, I know why we like this song so much. A huge part of it is a big time Motley Crue rip off. We have to change it up. I know we like it, but, we cant record it." Or, whatever band they are plagerizing at the time. Motley Crue is just an example in this one instance. You know what i mean??

I'm dissappointed that a band who could produce such a superb and well-rounded EP as A Writer's Reference failed to follow it up with a full-length.

They said in multiple interviews that the similarity is intentional and the lyrics even reference MC (a little).

I really like Halifax, A LOT. I couldn't get the dam cd out for a week, I had it playing over and over. It does sound like a MC song but I actually think its better than anything MC did. This band is a fresh air, bringing back good hard rock (no death metal/screamo/thrash), just good rock n roll! So if that means they suck, well then they suck big time.
I hope the best for these guys!

No I doubt it - but I meant that any MC fans or indeed other "classic rock" fans won't be happy with the claim that Halifax's Inevitability of a Starnge World surpasses any MC work.

I AM old school..child of the 80's hard rock scene, hell Pyromania was my 1st tape. I just think IMO that Halifax is better than most 80's bands could have hoped to have been. Catchy lyrics, ripping guitars, lots of emotion. Hell Halifax is one of the great secrets around, again IMO.
To each their own though right?

Yeah, like someone said earlier, "Our Revolution" is a tribute to Motley Crue. Nikki Sixx was apparently invited into the studio during recording to hear the song, and he gave it the "okay".

Is it just me or does anyone else feel too that bands call ripoffs homage just so they can get the sound out of whatever was popular and get the most money out of what they didn't write?

It's disgusting, the lack of creativity - and I don't mean [just] Halifax.
No wonder everything sounds the same these days.

i think they did awesome. obviously the vocals were tough but he was probably nervous as fuck. i mean it was their first time on tv, give em a fuckin' break. everyone should stop whining and putting them down. all together i thought they did good. and even though it sounds like motley crue, i think that's kick ass because i like crue. so that they did that i think it's awesome. all i have to say is i thought it was good and i still think halifax is a fantastic band.

i went to the taping as well and they rocked out. They preformed two songs but they aired the lesser of the two which was lame. After the show, I talked to them for a little and they seem so cool. Nice guys and fun rock. And Carson Daily is the worst TV host in history.... but his show just got re-newed for another season.

I got to go to the taping of the show and met Halifax. They are such nice guys, down to earth and super cool. It was neat to see the same thing on tv a week later, but I couldnt' find myself in the crowd.

halifax is one of my 5 favorite bands but they don't take themselves too seriously, and thats fine if you want to do that and have fun, but it really diminishes their live set. i couldnt make the ten release show but apparently with the posts in this thread theyw ere less than stellar, and i have very much experienced that before. with paramore and my american heart mike seemed so drunk that it just diminished my experience but i wish i could have seen this performance. i love them and they make some kick ass rock and roll which is awesome for our genre but they could step up their live perfomances (pretty much mike) but who is to say how they should act i suppose.

I have never met them so I cant say if they are nice or not but great live band! At the TEN show in philly, they were really good i thought, great in fact, just the wrong crowd to play for. TEN isnt exactly hard rock...that and none of the opening acts really got a response from the TEN crowd. I felt bad for all of the opening acts.

It's bound to happen. I know Halifax and I know the guys and they are what they are, which is good guys, down to have a good time, who don't take themselves too seriously. They like to party. They like to tell jokes. They like to have a good time. They like to fuck around with eachother. Some people take that as "cocky assholes" but I take it, and the majority of the world takes it as a bunch of kids living their dream, having fun, and enjoying life - but not doing it at the expense of others.

Some people you just can't make happy.
