I never got why they tried to make the ninja turtles all badass...why can't they just be skateboarding and eating pizza?

They show hints of the playfullness though towards the end.

This is supposed to be fairly "dark" too apparently.

And yes, I could go for live-action as well.

Alright, I love the original film but come on .... "Totally awesome...absolutely brilliant...a great action packed blockbuster."

Lets not use our words lightly. That's something you would see for a Spielberg film. Not this.

thats not lightly at all for anything put out by the Weinsteins. Especially with the Wachowski's behind it. They only made the Matrix trilogy and V for Vendetta.

They haven't proved they can pack a theater at all.

the original comics were badass. they were real dark. they didn't really skateboard and eat pizza until the cartoon.

the cartoon version had their movies. i hope to hell they're making this new one more like the comics.

either way i'm stoked.

i've known about this movie for a while, but had zero interest in it till i saw that teaser. HOLY SHIT, THAT LOOKS SO FUCKING COOL!!!! and for the people asking for live action, look at it this way: with animation you can have kick ass action sequences and effects for very little money. i guarantee you no studio in america would give a ninja turtles movie more than $50 million. oh and this is in continuity with the first 2 TMNT movies (like superman returns).

The animation looks great. This is surely a movie you'd have to see in theatres to get the full effect of it.

i'm no expert. but i would guess hiring people to do all the CG is more expensive than having a person doing something with wires. maybe not.

and also, with the same group that did V for Vendetta, and The Matrix Trilogy...a budget in excess of 50 mil would definitely happen. The first time I heard this was announced it had the Wachowski's name associated...so, it should get + make money.

edit: it appears its only a weinstein project (ex-miramax) and no wachowski's.

i agree. it's so lame being able to watch all of these trailers in HD, for free. i also hate how small the file size is with that H264 codec.

i think someone mentioned somehitng about whether it would be based on the cartoon more or the original comic. i guess this can sort of answer that.

Based Upon: The extremely popular 1980's comic books created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman, that were licensed for a TV cartoon and three feature films based on that cartoon (and not so much on the comics). There is also a new animated series (currently in pilot form) that is based upon the comics (and not the cartoons/movies), which would tie in with this film.

I pulled that from yahoo's tmnt page. it looks like it might be based on the comic more so than cartoon.
