It's a pretty decent size place. I don't like it cause it's an under-21 club, and they really pack the place. I just don't like the venue.

They'll oversell it by at least 25%. The place is fine for mid-size shows, but when it gets remotely crowded it's absolutely unbearable

If I was Australian I'd be pissed at that setlist, 18 songs? Boston got like 20 songs and they come like 3 or 4 times a year. Its not even the song selection, it's the fact I feel they owe them something a little more considering they come to OZ once every two years, My friend is going to the Brisbane show i hope they add something to make it special. Well, it's not really controllable, and people usually just post them in a statement of how much they really would like to see a band. Although, they tend to word it differently then others. It's perfectly fine I think. To each their own.

Yeah - I'm not sure what bus I'm going to be taking, and it'll be arriving at King of Prussia. It'd be more helpful if they could post set times, haha. I'm still trying to figure it out - my friend wants me to go so badly. Thanks for the info!

no problem man, they dont ever post set times, rutgers is retarded. concert usually starts at 3 I believe, 2 the earliest.

So what are the chances that a majority of the crowd at Croc Rock will be under 21? I really hope the bar area isn't packed like the underage section will be since they oversold the fuck out of the place.

sorry brand new, but seeing you twice in 6 months, the previous time was in their hometown of long island (7 hour drive) and they show no energy that night either.. the set was barely average at best, jesse said about three words all night, and they still dont know how to create a set-list.. i left the pit after 70x7 cause i knew the order of the songs coming, and a girl puked everywhere haha... but still the no encore thing is so annoying.. its not about the band for the encore, its about the fans who paid their money and screamed their lungs out for your band... they didn't encore in L.I. either, and this time it left a really bitter taste in my mouth. they could have play jude law, soco, quiet things, limousine, literally anything.. grrrrr

Brand New does not do encores. Last night was the 16th time I have seen them and with the exclusion of the fall 2007 Tour with Thrice and mewithoutYou, Brand New does not do an encore. Even then it was a just the (Untitled) instrumental turned into a jam session. I don't know how you can say the band had no energy when Jesse was jumping around like crazy over half of the set, I have seen him hardly move before, they also aren't a band that talks to the crowd a lot, ever - last night he addressed three or four times which is def. the normal. In between how many songs do think a band should talk the crowd? Three or four times is def. good enough for a 15 song set.

Pretty much spot on. I wouldn't even consider the untitled jam from 07 an encore. Post devil and god, brand new doesn't do encores. That's the norm. They haven't really done consistent encores since the comeback tour in 2006. As far as talking goes, any brand new fan knows that jesse is shy and doesn't really like talking during the set, clearly makes him feel akward, which is fine cause as far as I'm concenred I go to watch them play music.

It would be nice to see longer setlists, especially with these smaller venue shows. However, there was a time when they would always play 22 song sets and people would still complain because they didn't play 70 x 7, so over the years I've learned to just be happy brand new is still playing live shows and take what I can get. If any of you were lucky enough to get tickets to the small us tour last summer, then that show should have held you over for a long time, cause after going to that show, I'll probably never complain about a setlist again because it was so good. I would also agree with the above, the biggest factor in how good they play is their energy, if jesse shows a lot of energy than the show is usually sick no matter what they play. This being said, I'm super stoked for tomorrow night.

I've come to the conclusion Brand New "fans" will never be happy with what they do and don't at a live show. It's quite ridiculous. I also can agree with you about the fall 2007 tour but they did leave the stage each for a few minutes and come back out plus the setlists had the encore dash in them when I got them from the stage.

Yeah, I mean it was an encore technically, but it was pretty much planned the entire tour. I consider it an encore if it varies and the band actually has to decide what to play, not just whats on the setlist. The only show that tour they did something unplanned was in pittsburgh when jesse "broke" the loop on the untitled encore and they ended up coming back out to play 70x7.

They used to play sick encores though, I remember the first show of the 06 comeback tour, jesse came back out three seperate times playing good to know/70x7, then back again to play soco, then back again for play crack. the encores from the 2004 fall tour were pretty sick too. Those were the days haha.

i want to set the record straight so i dont look like a total douchebag hater haha. i love brand new, to the death literally so much that i got 70x7 tattooed inside my lip and showed it to jesse outside of nassau coliseum in long island and he said, "that is gnarley, but what is the JL for at the end?" (the tattoo looks like "70x7-JL) and i was just petrified that he even noticed i showed it to him and i was like its for Jesse Lacey.. and he replied, "oh shit duh haha ive never seen anyone with my name on them"... without question i was crying, screaming and on cloud 9 after that.. and they closed 70x7 haha.. but i just got disappointed last night because of the AMAZING set list at wembley (i have never got to hear them play TQTTNOEK or Jude). i should know not to be extremely expectant of YFW songs, and anything besides sic and tommy and crack from deja. just once i want hear those. i loved the show last night contrary to my emo rant haha. sink, sic, archers, tommy, 70, crack, sowing, jesus were all amazing.

with that said, i understand that bands are into the "no encore" thing. i have been to two different TBS shows where they didn't encore (weird i know), but i have been to shows with three encores, Springsteen played 7 songs after leaving stage the first time, Green Day played two encores (hate all you want, i love them), blink encored this summer. i know brand new havent encored since i think what 06, which was the second time i saw them, and that show i kid you not vin said something along the lines of, "were tired of playing quiet things were going to play guernica instead" i love guernica so at the time i was like OMG fuck yeah not realizing that it may have been my only chance to hear it live GRRR haha. i just really do strongly believe that a band encores to show appreciation for its fans, and you can take it for what its worth but i love it when the lights dim again and everyone screams and a band rips back into first chords of a song that make you go insane... two of my personal favorites were Bruce Springsteen encoring with the song Rosalita, and the blink reunion tour of dammit. im sorry for the purists who will accuse me of being of selfish for wanting them to come back out, but it really do feel that with the support we have given them we deserved it... am i selfish? YES, but hey most of us here have been supporting brand new since 2001, and we would all defend them to the grave!

i think it just boils down to one of those things for me that i have heard everyone of my favorite songs at live shows from all my other favorite band: Green Day played 2000 light years away, Jimmy Eat World played 23, sweetness, bleed, and if you dont dont (at the same show), Taking Back Sunday played the blue channel, blink played always, reckless abandon and dysentery gary in succession!, starting line played drama summer and saddest girl story, Fall Out Boy played sending postcards from a plane crash, All time low played jasey rae and coffee shop.... you probably get the point haha..

i was just disappointed that they didn't play at least one of those two songs, although just being able to see brand new again was worth every second. each time i leave their concert i just pray it isn't the last time i get to see them. i just want to hear those songs live and then if i went to a brand new concert and Jesse stood on stage and just detuned his guitar with massive feedback (ala syd barret) i would be ecstatic.

does everyone agree though that the two best songs last night were: Archers and 70x7. unless of course it was someone's first BN show then possibly Play Crack was their fave..

sorry if i pissed anyone off with my rant haha..

still my second favorite band, and no other will ever, ever, ever, ever take that away from them.

Don't worry you didn't piss anyone off. Just remember to cherish them and see it from their view. Bands like brand new, modest mouse, saves the day, etc... are a dying breed and pretty much last reminents of that music era. I feel the same every time I leave a bn show, please don't let this be the last. And the BIGGEST thing I have found over the years is that if they don't want to play a certain song, if they do end up playing it, it sucks cause they aren't into it. In this past fall's tour. hands down the best stuff live was daisy, just because that's what they wanted to play. That;s a big thing to remember about brand new shows as I'm sure you know haha.

And by the way, Jimmy plays like the most insane encores haha. I saw them once on his birthday and they literally played an hour long encore.

cheers to that! one of the most underrated and influential bands of our time. i cant go a week without giving, Bleed, Clarity, or Futures a spin. when people bring up our generations great songwriters/frontmen i always include him. i dont know if anyone else has this feeling, but i kind of always feel badly for jesse... i think ALL of us are somewhat guilty of holding him to this god-like standard (for me he will never get back to the level of your favorite weapon) but sometimes i feel like jesse doesn't feel as if he is "appreciated" or something.. cant really find the words to describe it but does anyone else who has seen them live more than a few times agree?

then according to you, no band plays encores. i'm looking at setlists from 8 different shows hanging on my wall right now, and every one that thye played an encore at, they're all written down. bands plan encores. every band does. and even the seventy times 7 show, that was planned, there was pictures of the setlist that surfaced that had untitled crossed out and 70x7 written on it.

then according to you, no band plays encores. i'm looking at setlists from 8 different shows hanging on my wall right now, and every one that thye played an encore at, they're all written down. bands plan encores. every band does. and even the seventy times 7 show, that was planned, there was pictures of the setlist that surfaced that had untitled crossed out and 70x7 written on it.

sorry bud

I'm thinking of at least 10 different bands I've seen in the last few years who have come out and done encores that were not scripted.

show in allentown tonight was good

Brand New played the same set list they played Saturday in Scranton, they just changed the order a little bit. The messed up Sowing Season halfway through so they just started the song over haha. I was hoping for something a little different, but regardless all the songs sounded great and the band looked like they were into it.

actually I'm pretty sure brian thought the song was over for some reason and just stopped drumming haha. it was after the first time they sing "it's time to put the seeds into the cold ground". They just lauged about it and started the song over. It still sounded good.

HA, sorry bud.

You must not get to too many show, or atleast good ones. I have 5 std setlists over the years...never planned a set encore, not once, I've even had a long talk with dave about it back in the day and he said they usually play what the crowds been cheering. Or go to a modest mouse show, look at their setlists and 90% of the time isaac doesn't even play the songs on their encore setlist, he completely changes them after they go in. My friend toured with hot rod cicuit as an extra guitar in the early 2000s and he said all tour long they would make encores up as they go.

I do agree with you that some bands plan them, but "every band does". false, sorry bud.

Setlist from tonight at Crocodile Rock:

Sink.
Vices.
Gasoline.
Sowing Season (Yeah). [first half of song]
Sowing Season (No/Yeah). [full song]
Bought a Bride.
The Archers Bows Have Broken.
Okay I Believe You, But My Tommy Gun Don't.
Sic Transit Gloria.
70x7.
You Stole.
At the Bottom.
Jesus.
Degausser.

Play Crack the Sky.

Really excellent show. Was my first time seeing a few of the new songs played; You Stole is simply amazing to hear live [especially if you can ignore everyone talking to their friends, grr.].

This being said, I'm super stoked for tomorrow night.

this kid knows what's up. well said, sir.

I was at Northern Lights last night too, Jesse definitely said (paraphrasing): "This show is special because now we are officially an unsigned band, so that's nice. It's less complicated." I know this is a bit off, but something to that effect was said. Can anyone corroborate and/or correct my quote? I think this is news!

Edit: I actually captured this moment on video! Sorry for shitty framerate on my iPhone 3G (jailbroken, Cycorder) but good sound.

Yeah I know....I go to school here and Rutgersfest last year was pretty fun despite kids trying to mosh to NERD. You're right though...the whole point is to get trashed so people just want to get rowdy I suppose.
