"The real Tom."

Wow, no bad blood there.

its true though. tom does sound like sort of a douche/a-hole in his AVA interviews and articles. im excited to hear the new stuff from plus 44

i dont blame them for feeling that way...Tom spat in the face of everything they did as Blink when he was promoting AVA

i dont blame them for feeling that way...Tom spat in the face of everything they did as Blink when he was promoting AVAhe continues to do so at shows too. "thanks for giving me a second chance" "i don't want to be in a bullshit pop band that plays bullshit songs that bullshit 14 year old girls sing in their bullshit cars"

plus that doesnt have to be a personal stab at tom, maybe he's just saying 'yeah he's always been cocky blahblahblah' and doesnt want to say too much more about ava because he knows it'll be analyzed to hell on fansites and message boards and if he says one meaningless thing itll turn into "tom slept with travis' wife thats why they broke up" or something

Good to hear what this band is all about. I'd like to know exactly what "the real Tom" means, but it's obviously bad blood. I understand Tom is a bit "out there" but I haven't heard him say anything too bad about Blink. Maybe he does at shows, but I dunno. It was also the first time I've read another Blink member use the word "breakup" about the band's so-called hiatus.

That saddens me to hear those words. Sometimes, the truth is hard to hear.

oh man i was really excited for mark/carol to trade vocals.

so those two guys in the picture are in the band now....i was really looking forward to what Carol was going to contribute. it sounds like it'll be good either way though.

rofl I wonder if he knows that 14 year olds don't have cars. But he shouldn't even be talking about bullshit, when his band could possibly be the worst band live in the history of music...if you want to call what they play live as music..

"Its the best album in the world" Hmm that is either a joke, or Travis is just like Tom.

I figure he didn't mean it the way I'm reading it.

"I have to say you're definitely seeing what the real Tom was like, and that's the only comment I'll make about him or his band," Barker said. "But everything happens for a reason. If the Blink breakup didn't happen, we wouldn't be here right now, and we wouldn't have been able to make the record we did. ... It's the best thing in the world."

hahahhahahah
oh man that nearly killed me.

yeah, I think you read it wrong.

"It's the best thing in the world."

I think he was referring to the situation, not the album.

i secretly want plus 44 to blow ava out of the water...just to show tom that 'walking the walk' is more important that 'talking the talk'....and so we can get some stellar music.

also, i heard tom on loveline and he wasn't the egotistical, blabbering idiot he has been in interviews lately...he was the funny, nice guy that made me miss blink even more.

I'm still in denial about Blink...that statement is killing me. I want them both to have awesome records, but to fail miserably in sales so they'll have no choice but to reunite. oh well

Oh wow, apparently you've never seen AVA live dude... fucking... I just saw them on Sunday and they rocked my fucking face dude. I had a few friends with me that only went for TBS, and they came out LOVING angels and airwaves... it's so funny when people make comments about bands live performance based strictly on what they've read online that "haters" posted. haha.

that was either a really rough demo or not even a real plus 44 song at all. obvously they've had member changes if that was a plus 44 song. i'm excited to hear what they will bring to the table.

okay when he says the "real tom" he's obviously talking about the fact that tom is a complete nutcase. i mean, did you hear him on that radio show when he was talking about 9/11 conspiracies? and to call your own music the "best music ever made" is pretty insane to say the least. i dunno, i have a feeling mark and travis think tom has gone completely off the deep end.

yeah tom is pretty nutty and preachy now in his interviews and live. but they do play a really good live show. but the 911 conspiracies are something that arnt too far out of the water.

did he really say that? I'm amazed...and maybe a little disappointed if he really said that. I thought he was mostly the reason why they sounded what they sounded like. Or maybe ...*gasps*...he really was abducted by aliens at the end of his new video and the dude that replaced him is called Traf Ttub. I mean they showed us what happened...but in an implicit way so we think it's just a video.

I have no doubt in my mind that the Plus 44 cd will be much much better than AvA's. I've personally lost all respect for Tom after reading his endless promotions of the cd and witnessing his live show. He has such a big ego it's almost painful to witness.

Haha, I just wanted to throw this out there, but I couldnt help but laugh at Tom's obligatory "Fuck George Bush" statement when I saw them live. He then proceeded to tell us, the audience, that we need change or whatever, and we are the only ones who can bring it about. Did I mention that this was in Toronto?

Fobika!
07/22/06, 08:33 AM
i expect good things from Plus 44 so long as "No it Isn't" isn't an indicator as to what they're going to sound like. AVA was pretty terrible but they blow Plus 44 out of the water if thats how they're really going to sound. A 13 year old could have written that song.

07/22/06, 09:28 AM
No It Isn't was lyrically very poor. In terms of the performance and the tune it was actually pretty good. I liked the female vocals thing going off in that song too.

I am guessing we are gonna get shitty emo lyrics - without even the slight "originality" in sound of having a male and female duet.

I'll comment again when I hear it - but this project has predictable written all over it.

Looks like Tom is jealous of Billie Joe and tried to make a masterpiece and failed unlike Green Day. I love Blink, AVA, & I know I will like +44.

I personally LOVE the Angles and Airwaves record, so Mark and Travis are really gonna have to bring it to get my attention. I'm curious, so I'll check it out, but if it blows I'll be content with AVA.

I think what Tom did is bullshit and for him to make such a big deal about Angels and Airwaves..well he shouldnt havee because they arent as amazing as he made it seem.He said "God came down and helped write the cd"...just because you write a song about god coming down and fixing the world doesnt mean god helped write the cd dumbass. Ive loved blink since day 1 and every band theyve made from blink. I'm really happy that Plus 44 didnt stay electronic and im dying to hear the rest of the cd. Travis is the best drummer ive ever heard and cant wait to hear what else he can amaze me with on the plus 44 cd.

yeah, that song actually sucks pretty bad. and mark can't really sing any better than tom and proves it on that song. the two of them together are what made blink something (cough cough) special. the way they limited eachother's eccentricities and supplemented eachother's creative process. but no it isn't was pretty lame.
