I wanted to go to Projekt Revolution in, uh, I think 2008, but I wasn't able to make it. Hopefully I get to see them next time they roll past Pittsburgh, and hopefully it's with acts I'd want to see. I've heard that they're not that good live, but I think it'd be a really fun concert.

Speaking of which, I'd like to add MCR to the list of bands I'm mildly embarrassed to love.

My Chemical Romance would probably be fun live, and the same for Saosin. I forget who else was on the lineup I missed. I think Atreyu, Hawthorne Heights, Busta Rhymes, maybe Chris Cornell? Yeah, and some others. I think this was when Busta released that single with Linkin Park, so that would have been fun.

Generally speaking, people who don't need validation/don't care what others think of their taste don't feel compelled to tell others that they listen to a lot of "good music" or that the ratio of "good" is greater per "bad" (whatever "good" and "bad" is).

Michael C. Hall's character runs a few real-life video games, including a 'second life' sort of game where people control real humans. Anyway there's a montage of these in-game real people fucking and fighting one another, asses bouncing around windows, etc with the "discovery channel" song in the background.

I heard it a few times when it came out, thought it was boring, heard it again a few months ago, and still couldn't get into it. I kind of liked "Call Me When You're Sober" and "Good Enough." Fallen just seems more consistent. Granted, that could be from liking it a lot when I was younger. Maybe I wouldn't have liked it if it had come out more recently.

It took me a few listens to get into it. It's definitely a lot darker than Fallen - her voice is much rawer, and save for "Sweet Sacrifice", it doesn't have any catchy songs like "Bring Me To Life". But I think I actually prefer it now. "Your Star" is awesome.
I hope Evanescence puts out something again someday. Amy Lee's voice remains one of my favorites and I haven't heard it sing new songs in too long.

i mean, my music friends give me shit for loving relient k, but it's mostly in jest. im not really that embarrassed to love them the way that i love them. they're self-aware of their juvenility and do such a fantastic job coming across like 15 year olds playing in a garage without the pretense of melodrama or any kind of bombastic packaging for their simple, earnest messages and energetic rhythm guitars. a lot of people are also put off by how preachy they are, but this in ways contributes to how endearing they are, because its with the same blind devotion and obedience of a teenager who's still not allowed to cuss or watch PG13 movies, and whose parents make him go to church EVERY sunday. plus, their music is so addictive, and has a combination of the most sugary melodies and adorable lyrics imaginable.
they are my teenage pop music and im not ashamed of it at all.

i mean, my music friends give me crap for loving taylor swift, but it's mostly in jest. i am outright unembarrassed to love her the way that i love her. she's self-aware of her innocent youthfulness and do such a fantastic job coming across like a teenager with crushes without the pretense of melodrama or any kind of overly sexual themes for her simple, earnest messages about cute, puppy love and strumming guitars. a lot of people are also put off by how "annoyingly cute" she is, but this in ways contributes to how endearing she is, because they are just super jealous of her skillz, and cool songwriting ability. plus, her music is so addictive, and has a combination of the most sugary melodies and adorable lyrics imaginable.

im not embarrassed by any of my music but if i had to name some that would be considered guilty pleasures they would have to be Good Charlotte, Fall Out Boy, HIM, My Chemical Romance
all the scene kids in cambridge all mock me when i say this but i dont give a shit, im the one with the more open mind who has the benefit of being unashamed to listen to slayer one minute, fall out boy the next, then onto black flag, then back to My Chem them maybe a little bit of Dillinger Escape Plan, followed by something classic like ac/dc or Ozzy. Whatever strikes a chord with me is what i will listen to, and if youre too elitist to accept that then you can fuck off as far as im concerned because you are ruining music

Uh, I don't know? I'm just saying that Linkin Park - at least for me, and many other people seem to have experienced the same thing - was the first rock band that I got really obsessed with, and it led to a lot of other bands and eventually to the music I listen to now. Before that it was mostly just mainstream radio rap shit. I'm not saying that all rap is bad - I still listen to a lot of it. But the majority of the rap on the radio is total garbage, and that's the stuff I'm referring to.

Linkin Park is my jam. New album due out this year. I'm pumped.
O please god no. I cant take that kind of heart break again. Linkin Park was the first band i ever loved, and they straight up murdered my ass with Minutes To Midnight. I can not handle that kind of let down a second time.
O, and FTSK. Underdog Alma Mater.

Metro Station and I set My Friends On Fire
Not embarrassed but they are the most likely to cause backlash on here!
I would have to say Metro Station. Fuck, I really don't like the band members, but my ears love the music.
On a sidenote there's a semi-funny story behind this. I was having a terrible day about a year ago, and my amazing girlfriend bought me a bag full of stuff to cheer me up. In the bag was awesome things like a book about Wall-E because we'd just seen it (not sure if it was a year ago at this point now)... anyway, some candy, and whatnot, and then the Metro Station CD, because I had heard the song on the radio at my dad's house and started making fun of it, so she thought it'd cheer me up because we were having a good time goofing on it. It worked, and I put the CD and enjoyed it, then I learned a while afterwards that these guys are constantly made fun of, the CD then became embarrassing I suppose in that aspect.

Blah blah blah I'm not embarrassed to like the music that I do and if you do that's hella lame and you probably already have no friends yadda yadda yadda.
The Maine, all their songs are so damn catchy.
I'm not embarrassed by them though, I just want to go see them live and not feel like I'm 30 and everyone else is 12.

My friend's all listen to really shitty music (Nickelback, 3Oh!3, mindless pop-punk bands, etc.) so their opinions on music really don't mean a thing to me...but I would have to say my guilty pleasures are Kelly Clarkson and Taylor Swift...but I'm not ashamed.
I'm all about Kelly Clarkson, but unlike you I am ashamed. I won't put her on my iPod or buy her CDs but I want to marry her when I hear her on the radio. Mostly older things like Breakaway and Since U Been Gone (I hate that she used "U" instead of putting the effort forth and using two more letters).

I have a pretty huge collection of Hanson on my itunes. I think it's really only rivaled by my Andrew McMahon catalogue.
Embarrassed, no. I've loved all but one of their albums since Middle of Nowhere.

There is no shame in loving Hanson because I say there isn't.

Well, I'm glad you aprove.
And I never feel shame for my music.
Apparently The Cab and Every Avenue are guilty pleasures too but they're on the top of my list. I think (hope) they'll both get some more solid fanbases.

Their new single was dece. Awful lyrics, but suitably epic rock.

If "The Kill" isn't one of them, I'm mad at you.

Good because that song (the creepy Shining rip-off video notwithstanding) is quite awesome. That could be our tag team's entrance music. Since it's prob the closest thing to metal I would expect that you like.

Hahaha, no where near metal, what are you talking about? And does Dream Theater count? Because they are decent. I am rather disappointed with people's assessments of my music taste, quite frankly.

Oh God. Anything but Dream Theater. I used to pretend I liked them in my young "technical ability is the be-all-end-all" phase.
And I was joking with you about the metal thing. I never underestimate the potential broadness of your tastes.
