The Casualties (http://www.thecasualties.net) have released details on their new album, Under Attack, which hits stores August 22nd.
Veteran New York City street punks The Casualties have been outspoken believers in right and wrong, and their latest full-length, UNDER ATTACK, due Aug. 22 on SideOneDummy Records, tackles topical subject matter with a fury and frenzy that only a true punk band can. This mix of social commentary and hardcore punk rock has and continues to be demonstrated on the main stage at the Vans Warped Tour all summer long. They will be doing a 9-day run up-and-down the West Coast, kicking off in Fresno on Aug. 18. A national "Punx Unite" tour is set for September.

UNDER ATTACK, produced by Bill Stevenson [former member of the seminal punk bands Black Flag, Descendents and All] is a slab of old-school revivalist punk rock owing nods to anthemic punkers The Exploited and GBH. However, this is also the band's hardest record to date. "We're taking it to the next level," offers guitarist Jake. "As musicians we've improved, but it's not showing-off improved. It's still the same punk rock. There are still sing-a-longs. But it's just a much harder record."

The title track "Under Attack" kicks off with a blazing guitar and pounding drums before erupting into a full on musical circle pit as lead vocalist Jorge screams violently and the band chants "We're under attack." Jake says about the album's title track "We feel the country is under attack, but from our own country. The extremists are wrong, but we shouldn't be over there, because the whole thing fucking stinks." While the current administration is certainly a target, other topics such as global warming ("Without Warning"), Hurricane Katrina ("System Failed Us… Again"), celebrity culture ("VIP") and the music business ("Fallen Heroes") are also key focuses.

Under Attack marks the band's seventh album since frontman Jorge formed the band 16 years ago. 2004's ON THE FRONT LINE, also produced by Stevenson, was released in both English and Spanish and revered by the punk community here and abroad. "Every song is spiked with so much venomous energy," declared ALTERNATIVE PRESS, adding, "Jorge is a classic punk screamer."

The band's latest sonic statement, UNDER ATTACK, is anthemic, abrasive and inspiring. The 12 tracks are a dose of pure punk power injected with social commentary that is nostalgic yet forward thinking at the same time. Racing by in just under 40 minutes, it is bound to leave you sweaty, breathless and pissed of... just like the band's live show.

The tracklisting for Under Attack is as follows:
1. Under Attack
2. Without Warning
3. System Failed Us... Again
4. Social Outcast
5. VIP
6. No Solution - No Control
7. Down & Out
8. In It For Life

Punk with meaning is still alive! I can't wait for this new album, what a joke that 95% of these bands today are. Bitching about their problems and how shitty their life is, no gimmick can be found here with The Causalties. The music that you listen to reflects who you are as a person.

Don't get me wrong, I used to like '40 Oz. Casualty' and shit like that, but if you take a step back and actually listen to The Casualties, setting their colored spiked hair and ridiculous punk outfits aside, its just noise crowded by pure shit.
