cut to a scene kid wearing the shirt, explaining that they just hate how they are grouped into this category, when they really just wish they were seen as individuals and the followers should die.

isnt a scenester usually someone who enjoys a lot of "indie" bands and is in to obscure art? Similar to a hipster, thats what I always thought the definition was. I refer to what you guys call scenesters as attention whores.

BadNewsBear
07/22/06, 10:36 AM
If they put it on a white shirt it wouldnt deliver the message, now would it?

thats also a good way to kill all of your customers and close the doors for good. :)

Naw.
I think the connotations of what a 'scene kid' is have changed quite a bit recently.

I would like a 'Die Hipster Die' tshirt.
In my eyes a Hipster is someone who takes music too seriously, thinks their music taste is impeccable and you should listen to the bands they are listening to, and they use words like 'glorious', and watch sunsets and think they can paint and think they take good pictures of shit.

Labeling is fun sometimes, though I hate to do it.

Its pretty funny how most of the people bashing on hot topic at the moment, for doing what they do, have most likely supported its business in one way or another.

Its also funny how this is even considered news. The shirt must have been out for several months now.

I'd just like to point out...while you are one of the many on this board posting about this- i viewed your profile and every single one of these bands that are in your profile they carry at hot topic. how can you criticize a company when every single band you like supports it and can be found there. LAME

NOW THATS IRONIC!

There's nothing wrong with a band's merch being carried at Hot Topic. They have Bob Marley and John Lennon shirts there.
Is Bob Marley "scene"?

because i'm sure mommy supports you and pays for your rent, clothes, everything until you can find a job that you think is 'worth it'. sorry, not everyone is that lucky, sometimes you have to take jobs at places you don't like. it's better than being homeless, don't you think?

as much as everyone loves any opportunity to use the word ironic, this is potentially much more contradictory than ironic, depending on how you view hot topic. there's really not much i wouldn't expect from hot topic, and i don't know if i'd classify their clientbase as mostly scenesters either. that's why i don't think it's ironic.
