From what I've seen so far, this is what I want as my next phone.
It can't be worse than the old Windows Mobile phones.
I actually quite like it so far. If it gets good Marketplace support for apps, I might consider getting one instead of an Android.

It's pretty much a Zune Phone, and the Zune looks slick as hell. Especially against the iPhone, which looks ugly as shit (And I've used one for the last 2 years).

Speaking of Zune Phone, and since a search didn't bring up any recent threads...how do the Zune 120s perform? I'm reading increasingly shaky reviews about the large-storage iPod Classics, and my 30gb is starting to piss me off with its lack of space.

It's pretty much the same experience as your 30, just with the squircle.

If you've looked through the links I've posted and still say that, I won't believe you.
Nothing can change my mind on what I said, I've been running a Verizon store for 4 years and Windows has never EVER impressed me, if anything it's destroyed a lot of potentially good phones. 6.5 was supposed to change all that and when I got my first HTC Imagio, it still did nothing to wow me. To each his own, I just think there's a lot better OS's out there rather than Windows.

If you looked, you'd see that everything you used to think about Windows mobile is irrelevant with 7. I agree with you that WinMo has been extremely stale for a few years now, but what they just unveiled is truly new. It's completely built from scratch, not WinMo 6 and before compatibility.
In his defense, it's early days and we haven't actually seen much of the phone. There's a hype factor I get from that engadget article, so hopefully we'll see some specific details soon.

Windows makes phones?
What you're all forgetting (or just no one else has mentioned) is the first phone that will ship with this OS is going to be in Q4 of this year. By that time Apple will have put out the 4th generation iPhone which , for all we know, could go ahead and surpass whatever WM7 will be. Microsoft is definitely catching up but at this point catch up is really all it is.
new features/UI seem pretty interesting. finally, there is some xbox 360 integration, as well as zune integration.

im so exited for this. im getting it when it comes out.
so i have had the palm pre, android and now i will Wphone7 when it comes out. i think im addicted to sweet new phones. haha

really? i think it looks fantastic. it's not just a bunch of icons cluttering the screen. it's more of a modern, straight-forward look.
oh well, i like the UI a lot

you're kidding, right? the fat color boxes for phone/text/fb/mail look absolutely horrid, and it looks way more cluttered to me, there is no room for the home screen to breathe, it is all icons

they're not just icons, they're hubs. instead of going into each different app (for example, check someones facebook/twitter/e-mail/etc...) they have those "icons" which are called hubs, and they just display the information without having to open/close/open/close different apps. like, i could go to my friends name in my contact list and see his facebook info, twitter info, e-mail info, pictures from my phone and online of him, and other web information, without opening a single app.
it's not necessarily multitasking apps, but it's close. plus, they have already said that multitasking is on it's way (as well as flash)
and what do you mean "home screen to breathe"? who wants a bunch of empty space when it could be filled with information i want to see?

i would have a zune right now if stupid ass microsoft made a zune marketplace that is mac compatible. i don't get what their angle is with that, it cant possibly cost that much to make a mac version, compared to the possible sales they would get for even the minority mac users who would choose a zune over an ipod.
they better have mac support with this, even if i dont get one haha. just the principle of it.
already announced no mac support now.
and yes, this is one of the really big 2 or 3 reasons the zune hardware/software isn't doing as well as it should be

GUI disaster
watched a video last night that went over the main features last night (excluding the marketplace and xbox because those will be covered at MIX)
they have some pretty great ideas that seem to be working very well. i would recommend watching that video (or at least ONE video) before trashing the phone/UI/etc...
