Hello fine APers. This will serve as the official thread for the yearly Conservative Political Action Conference taking place this weekend (February 18th thru 20th) in Washington DC.

Confirmed Speakers Include:
Hon. Dick Armey, Hon. John Ashcroft, Rep. Michele Bachmann, Glenn Beck, Amb. John Bolton, Andrew Breitbart, Herman Cain, Tucker Carlson, Liz Cheney, Ann Coulter, Sen. Jim DeMint, Hon. Newt Gingrich, David Keene, Wayne LaPierre, Rep. Ron Paul, Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Rep. Mike Pence, Hon. Mitt Romney, Hon. Marco Rubio, Hon. Rick Santorum, Hon. J.C. Watts, George F. Will and many more!

For those of you unfamiliar with the conference, it is essentially a giant circle jerk of prominent "Conservative" leaders that give speeches, lectures, panel discussions, and sign their expensive books. Since it is unaffiliated with the republican party, there are quite a few interesting "fringe groups" that set up shop in the exhibit hall.

I will be traveling to DC this thursday with a large group of the College Republicans on campus here, and attending the conference on Friday and Saturday. I'll try to stop in here occasionally and give updates on the ridiculous nature of the conference, and you all can feel free to discuss it as well. It will be broadcast on CSPAN all weekend, and I'm sure Fox News and even MSNBC will broadcast Glenn Beck's closing speech on Saturday afternoon.

I will mostly be going for Ron Paul's speech and to hang around the Campaign for Liberty tables and the Libertarian Party tables. It actually pains me that I have to watch Ann Coulter and Glenn Beck speak.

On a somewhat related note I ran into Tim Pawlenty in a bathroom there last year. He was using a urinal, and I shit you not, someone walked over to him to shake his hand.

Also, I don't know if any of you know this, but this conference brings out the most beautiful girls you've ever seen. I thought the image of conservatism was old white guys and trust fund kids, but boy was I wrong. It was something like a 70-30 split girls:guys, and you could count the uggos on one hand.

Ugh. To be honest, I wouldn't have minded seeing him speak. The man surely is smart and knows his politics. It's a shame he uses that knowledge for nefarious ways though.

The speaker lineup is weak this year. Hopefully there will be more surprises.

(Although last year I got 2 newt books signed, a pocket constitution by Ron Paul signed, and ron pauls shitty foreign policy book signed, so in comparison it will suck to last year).

Essentially there are a lot of questionable, at best, racial statements in the article such as "only five percent of blacks have credible political opinions" or "95% of blacks in LA are semi criminal or criminals" and the rights stopped so dudes could pick up their welfare checks.

He claims that he didn't write it, but I wonder how genuine his claim is when his campaign refuses to acknowledge and/or repudiate the support he has in the white power community. If compared to someone like the first President Bush, who responded to his white power support by calling them all idiots who shouldn't be taken seriously, Paul doesn't look good on race issues. It's interesting to note that his only statements on this was essentially that he didn't write it and that it's impossible for libertarians to be racist. He never, for example, explained how it could be in his newsletter if he didn't nor explain why he has a history of hiring staffers who have ties to the white power movement.

Well then you're a lucky guy. I only know one person who supports Paul who even attempts to know what he's talking about. But he only supports him in theory and said he'd never vote for him for a number of reasons (which I didn't ask), so I don't count that as a full-supporter.

After speaking for 15 minutes, she was constantly booed. She then had a half hour Q&A session. Not bad for a $30,000 paycheck. Anyways, I just looked it up and I forgot that soon after the event, Bill O'Reilly referred to me and other attendants as "far-left nazis" And no, Al Franken was not there. But Coulter appeared just days after Cindy Sheehan spoke at the school. I attended the Sheehan speech, which had a smaller audience compared to Coulter but was much more civilized and she made alot of great points.

The panel was a panel called "Two Minute Activism". It featured 18ish college aged speakers, speaking in 2 minute intervals about their activism. One person spoke of a survey she did talking about Grade Point Redistribution because the poor on campus don't have the means to get good grades. Then, when that wasn't supported, she told people to change out "grade point" for "wealth" to see how stupid of a concept Wealth redistribution is.

An early speaker at that panel started his speech off quickly thanking CPAC for allowing Go Pride to not only have a presence but to sponsor. The crowd as a whole (it was a couple thousand in the ballroom) was applauding it. Sorba, on the panel, started booing into his mike and making a thumbs down gesture. The booing you hear in the first clip is him.

By the way, to fully understand the context of this, know that the next speaker was ron paul, and they were running 2 hours behind. People coming in at 3 (when Ron paul was suppsoed to speak at 4:30) were greated by the speakers who were supposed to speak at 130ish. Every speaker was getting heckled by "Ron Paul!" and "end the fed!" chants. The entire ballroom was libertarian/real conservative minded people.

Sorba took the stage and veered from his approved speech, which was to talk about his work starting the YAF in california and going around campuses to start up small organizations (He came here last year to set up 2 groups, I forget what the second one is but the first was NU Right to Life). He was getting heckled by the crowd and immeditly called out Frazee, who is the leader of the YAL movement. Frazee then stood up and verbally attacked Sorba, and rightfully so. Sorba made a comment like "You guys protest worse thant he lesbians at smith college'. That's in reference to last year when he went to Smith and they completely fucked his shit up. A few of us (not myself) were supposed to meet up with Sorba at some point during the weekend, but we quickly forgot who he was after this. I spoke with a few people afterwards who said "I didn't think Sorba was going to do this, but then I realized how ridiculously hateful he was and it just made sense". That is my sentiments exactly.

Dude is crazy. 100% crazy.
