I am thinking maybe if I sticky a few of the most common topics with 'official' threads perhaps we can cut down on the amount of threads all on the same topic?
Regulars here is your time to shine- throw me some ideas and then I will construct a poll on the ones I feel most suitable and you can vote for which ones need a sticky and official thread.
official marijuana fo sho..or just sticky it since its already made
I think some housekeeping with the relationship trouble topics is in order, but I don't think people would be able to get adequate help if everyone and their mother is posting their problems in one thread.

Consider it done.

Good point although maybe a generic one for advice could be made still- then people could make their individual ones if they feel it deserves its own thread or just need some quick help in a stickied Advice thread?

James You're Stupid But Please Answer Me This!

The problem with putting all the relationship advice ones in a single thread is that there tend to be a lot of them. It could get very confusing; we wouldn't want people coming to PL and getting bad advice, would we? ;-)

Yea I'm not sure making 1 thread for all the relationship problems would be a good idea. There are alot of them but many are very different problems. Up to Mr. Mod I guess.

That would cut it down and make it better, definitely. People would probably just work it out for themselves with quotes I guess.

So many break up/new relationships/cheating threads are EXACTLY the same.

Seconded. and the Post Secret thread should definitely be a sticky, if it isn't already.
btw, the generic relationship/breakup threads have been tried in the past by other Mods and they never work. Everyone's egos are too large and don't feel like their issue gets enough attention when it's posted in a generic thread. I applaud you for attempting it, but don't be surprised if you still see a lot of extraneous threads covering the same topics. It's very hard to compartmentalize one's problems into a thread and honestly, why is that needed? As long as the threads are relevant and not spam, why can't they be posted as they are in the other forums? Imagine if you tried to do that in General, people would shit a brick.

Look through what I have said on the matter. In no way to I feel this is original or groundbreaking, nor do I think this will be a solution. I think this will ease congestion, allow people to self police themselves in a way and at the end of the day people of course are going to still be posting their own threads regarding issues stickied BUT thats ok too. The sticky threads will still have a lot of relevant advice and discussion for lurkers/kids wanting answers but too afraid/shy to ask etc.The threads I started today all have had a decent amount of posts keeping stuff relevant on the same page and generating some good topical conversation, what more could I ask for?
Please don't take this as me being condescending, I appreciate your advice and input. I think if these threads collect even a small percentage of the overall topic covered in each sticky it is still worth having.

Yeah but everyone has thinks THEIR situation is unique so they're going to make their OWN thread anyways.
Just following suit.
