when i first started i taught myself to play simple things by ear, one string at a time. like old mcdonald or something, then i started searching for tabs of songs to play and the easiest songs i found were blink 182 and old green day songs. they are just 3 note power chords that only need to have 3 of the strings held down at a time. great songs to start with are "when I come around" by green day or "dammit" by blink 182 (minus the intro, learn the chords first) they are both four chord songs that are real easy (or if there are any bands you may like that you know are more simple than others). eventually look into more acoustic songs so if ever want widen your range of music you can play because you will learn full chords instead of just power chords. this is if you are teaching yourself though. i got a teacher about 3 years into it to take me to the next level and we started with not only full chords but scales. good luck!

The best advice I can give anyone starting out guitar is to stay with it. It gets really frustrating at times, and you won't get amazing over night, but if you keep at it, you'll see some astonishing results.

It shouldn't be too hard to teach yourself if you head up to your local music store and by yourself a beginners book, it doesn't take a genius to learn the basics. The only reason I had a guitar teacher when I first started was because I was 10, but after about 6 months it just turned into a weekly jam session haha.

You're going to have spend a shit load of time programming each individual "blip" or noise, and it will all have to be in time. It's a very tedious process with no easy way of doing it (other than buying sample tracks/beats of this kind of stuff).

Depending on which software you're using you can buy new drum kits and samples. I have a bunch of old Roland kits with all these kind of "blips" and percussion noises and what not. But yeah, basically it can be as simple or as complex as you want, but it's something that takes time. Tons of layyyerrrs.

Chances are that TWDY just bought that entire sample from someone that does that sort of thing. But I could be wrong...

Everything else is super clean guitar with lots of low end, Rhodes pianos, and some real percussion mixed in.

It's about an hour away, so not to far just the whole campus life is worrying me, haha. I'm sure I'm just overreacting but I still wanted to get some advice on it. Well the key with college is to start small, and get involved (granted I go to community college right now so I don't have actual experience yet but it's what I'm learning from my friends.) By start small i mean, start with your hall and as you get more comfortable move up to your dorm and so on. And by get involved I mean, play an intramural sport, of if thats not your thing, I can almost guarantee there are groups for just about anything you like. The faster you do these things, the less overwhelming college will seem, so with all that said, I say purdue!

I just use Garageband. Some people would say it's pretty basic but I have a shit ton of plug-ins for it and whatnot. If you don't have a Mac look into Pro Tools, Cakewalk, Logic, etc...

Figure out how to read Tablature (tabs.) When I did that, I seemed to pick it up pretty quickly. And most songs have tabs on the internet so you can learn pretty much anything you want. Start off with easy songs, then over time you will be able to do more difficult songs. I stopped playing guitar 'cause I would just get too frustrated when I couldn't play a song, and I would stop for the day....so don't do that.

No just not feeling well. My epidural didn't work so my back has been killing me and I don't have a doctor down here anymore...and I think I have a cold I was sick for the past like week. Well not quite sick i'm hovering inbetween that feeling like crap and actual SICK feeling.
