They have a new song on their Myspace called get out

album is called Blue Sky Noise out on 4/20 (how fitting haha)

pre-order here and yes they have vinyl, no if you plan on flipping it you shouldn't buy because majors never have small pressing numbers.

I would be lying if I didn't say i'm nervous for the new lp circa is my favorite band they've helped me through heaps of shit.
and this is their first lp on a major, not saying they would sell out or sacrafice quality.

i'm still kinda iffy on the new song it seems like a grower to me.

yeah the guitar work on the new track is nothing short of disappointing, but that's harsh to say. i feel like the vocals are very very strong, but the production is way too up front and all in all it's missing that ambient reverb that is so critical to circa's past releases. i like the song, i just want to wait to see what the record sounds like.

Keeping on is moving on my man. They appear to be going for more of a rock vibe. I'm glad, seems more focused and if you listen to the song it still carries some ambient vibes. Get out kicks so much ass and I did really love their earlier releases but this song really got to me. I love it. I'm pumped.

yeah the song does rip pretty hard. i just feel that the production really doesn't do much for anyone except anthony.
and there's no way you can tell that they're going for a straight rock vibe based on one single song. there were a few more 'left field' elements featured in all those studio videos not too long ago.

Yeah, I agree we won't know until then but I thought I remembered reading things from Anthony and the band saying how this album will have a "rock vibe". Could be wrong though!

The song is fantastic. And the album art is just plain weird.

Exactly how I feel. I love the last two album covers. This ones a little freaky though.

I completely agree. To me, the vocals in the chorus are incredibly awkward. It's definitely missing that atmospheric aspect to it.
Not disappointing, I just hope the rest of the album is more previous release-esque.

i don't want them to release another record that sounds just like the last ones. i would like them to push their boundaries, but this is just pop music, not necessarily 'maturity.' it's just that this dude botrill is supposed to be this almighty professional producer, and i'm sure he is, but that certainly doesn't show here. this is basically a pop music parody of what circa used to be, much like what octahedron is to the mars volta. it all lies in the production, for the most part. if this song were produced by mcternan like their old shit perhaps the guitars would be a little better and heavier, the vocals would have some actual reverb and the drums would be audible. the whole atlantic records thing still worries me, but if this is their 'single' blue sky noise should at least be decent. i'm definitely stoked.

I'm glad the song isn't clinging to the band's typical faux-profound vibe. This sounds much better than their previous material, which just wandered aimlessly and follow the whole, "Let's prove we're an artsy band by replacing distortion with delay!" scene attitude. Anthony's voice still annoys me, but I like this song a lot more than anything I've heard of theirs before. Maybe I'll actually check the new album out. Maybe.

hahaha i hate that about SO many bands in their "genre," people give bands like them so much credit because of that and you get criticized hard if you disagree

i'm not a huge fan of this band, and i'll agree with the needless shit tons of delay pedals, but i can't imagine there's much substance to the wandering aimlessly claim when this bands songs are almost exclusively written in a standard verse/chorus/verse radio format. i mean, compared to the song structure of mars volta tracks off bedlam in goliath or post rock bands like toe, it's pretty standard. unless i'm totally misunderstanding what you're trying to say, in which case you should let me know. <3

I'm not referring to song structure so much as song quality and how I perceive the songs. Verse-chorus-verse song structures don't make the songs feel any less aimless than they would if they were less standard in that regard. It just all feels like all hype and no actual substance worth my time, kind of like Angels and Airwaves, except Tom Delonge writes better hooks.

i think i'd argue that angels and airwaves is even more aimless, given they throw on a 2 minute instrumental at the end of nearly every track. but i agree with you, circa creates lots of nonsense and not much that's really enjoyable to listen to, which is a shame because the drummer and guitar players former band was pretty good. i shit on circa survive a lot because it's fun and that steve henderson guy gives me 5 points everytime i mention anthony green and cocaine in the same sentence, but i still like a couple cuts off of juturna like stop the car and always getting what you want.
