I think the best part of that short article is this:
The film is nominated for nine Academy Awards, none of which is best original screenplay.

Its just that books cant be 3D, so this has no chance of being worth the paper its written on. As for the backlash to its popularity; things that are popular get more backlash because, to those who think said thing is bad, there is a sort of "am I on crazy pills?!" feeling which inspires a more aggressive response. There is no point to trying to convince someone that something is bad if no one cares about it anyway.
Do you think this book will be good??

I have a life, unlike the losers who sank into a depression after seeing this movie and will undoubtedly buy the book when it comes out because they're sad and pathetic and unable to cope with real life.

I feel like he knows what he's doing. He does have two of the highest grossing films ever. That being said, I will not buy/read/care about this.

Okay so apparently you get joy out of other people's misery and are excited to make fun of them. Just chill bro, you don't decide or validate what other people want to do for fun.

Why is it so bad to you? I know the plot is fairly easy to guess but overall it was a good movie. How did you not enjoy it?

You know how people like that are, they are just too edgy and post-modern us "normal" people to understand.

I was bored to tears and actually offended that I was supposed to be having "one of the best movie going experiences ever". To borrow a phrase from Roger Ebert (though not in description of this film), to call these characters cardboard is an insult to useful packaging material. The performances range from bad to laughable and only Saldana does anything notable with her character. The storyline is painfully derivative and predictable, to the point where I saw everything coming long before it actually happened. And the dialogue was bad enough to make the movie seem even longer than it was. Visuals: 10. Everything else: 5.

I hope this movie wasn't being touted as to having a good plot. It was obvious but I didn't mind the dialogue.
But with your score, it rounds out to be a 7.5. Doesn't seem to be that bad.

No, for a film to be a 7.5 I have to get at least something other than pretty visuals out of. The fact that I really hated/didn't give a shit about any of the characters is the real killer for me.

If you need an intellectually stimulating plot, go read a classic book. Don't go to a 3-d movie kids.
It was decent and looked awesome, you just have to hate it to be trendy.

Ha how is it trendy to hate what you might call the most trendy movie ever? Seems like a contradiction.

It's nominated for best picture. Obviously someone's taking it far more seriously than it deserves to be taken.
Trendy to hate it? Uhhhhh....what?

I didn't have fun, but I can understand why people would. Still, great cinema it is not.
