At Night We Live Available May 18th

Posted on 02/16/10

Far announce a May 18 release date for their fifth full-length and Vagrant debut, At Night We Live. The album was produced by guitarist Shaun Lopez at his own Airport Studio in Southern California. It’s the band’s first release in over a decade.
“I’ve got ten years of interviews saying this would never happen, that Far would never play together, let alone make a record, so I really have no idea what will happen from here on out,’ comments singer Jonah Matranga. “All I know is that I’m really proud of the record, and I think it stands with anything we’ve made. Really, that’s all I cared about as we were making it.”

hmm....released the same day as the new Deftones.

so fucking stoked.

I've never really listened to Far, despite their connections to the Deftones. I also used to have The Revolution Smile's cd somewhere in my house

Amazing news. Seeing Jonah was still one of my favourite live experiences ever.

May 18th is gonna kill me. I won't even know which record to listen to first on that day. On principle, it should be Deftones, but it's been about thirteen years since Water and Solutions. Dude, if they tour together...

I'm trying to contain my excitment. Reunion albums are usually disappointing. Then, again, Jonah has never failed.

haha, he and my oldest brother are the main reason i got into punk music. they introduced me to the early Warped Tour comps and the Atticus comps and i listened to CDs with them a lot.

Preordered the new album last week. I'd never heard of them before, lol.

Shit, I didn't know they were back together in any capacity at all, so I'm really looking forward to hearing this. Water & Solutions doesn't get the credit it deserves, it's just as good as the other classics of it's type; Dear You, Diary, Clarity, Nothing Feels Good. Fantastic album.

like that song didn't already bring tears to my eyes. That video just brought out more emotion and more of the meaning behind the song.

I've always been aware of this band, but have never actually listened to them until a friend recommended this album to me. IMHO, this is what a slick, well-produced rock album should sound like and I'm digging every song off of it.

I'm gonna go check out the back catalog, any ideas on which CD I should start out with?

in this order....Water & Solutions (1998) then...
Tin Cans with Strings to You (1996)

you can also check out Quick (1994) and Listening Game (1992) but I'll warn you that their first two albums are way different then their later material.

If you find that older Far isn't melodic or produced enough for you though, definitely check out the records their singer made as Gratitude and Onelinedrawing, too. Jonah's more or less a genius.

It is a really good song, although I get more of an early 2000's Our Lady Peace vibe from it. That's prob just me. It is one of my favorite on the album, though.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll def give those a spin. Also, I had no clue they were putting out records in 92.

Will do. I was surprised by how much range he displayed on At Night We Live. I know he's really respected by a lot of my friends who are musicians, but didn't know why or his other bands you mentioned. I feel like I just stumbled upon a treasure trove of good music that's been there all along and I've just never paid any attention to it.

lol yeah they've been around some time...but like I said they were way different then. Their music was more agressive then.
