Phoenix (Official Thread)

I was surprised to see there wasn't a thread about them.

Phoenix is a French band that have been together since 1995. They've released four albums, most recently Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. Other releases include United (2000), Alphabetical (2004), and It's Never Been Like That (2006).

Fantastic band. I only know Wolfgang and Alphabetical, but I think Alphabetical is my favourite of the two.

All I know of these guys is that every time I mention the band Phoenix Foundation last year, some cheeky bugger would always tell that this band was ">>>" the Phoenix Foundation. After just checking out that myspace link now, I can't say I agree with any of those people haha.

Wolfgang and their 2006 album are great, United and Alphabetical are just meh

i like Alphabetical. the first couple songs sounded familiar the first time i heard that album.

Wolgang Amadeus is my favorite though. just about every song is gold.

Wolfgang Amadeus was my CD of summer 09.
I picked up It's Never Been Like That on Amazon a few months back and enjoyed it, but not nearly as much as Wolfgang. It deserves the Grammy that it won.

Lisztomania is also my favorite song.
My favorite song is difficult to choose. Girlfriend, Rome, 1901, and Armistice are all perfect in my book.

Wolfgang was one of my favorites of last year and I just recently started getting into It's Never Been Like That. I just love their energy. I'm eagerly anticipating seeing them at Coachella this year.

been listening to phoenix for years and havent ran into many people who knew them. wasnt until i watched the final episode of season 6 of entourage and they played lisztomania at the end that it hit me that they are finally starting to get some serious recognition. oh and winning the grammy was prolly the real clincher for me :)

Entourage was the first time I ever heard em. Heard that ending and immediately launched up Shazzam to figure out the track. Now a huge fan.
