The man is a blues legend. Born Under a Bad Sign is essential. His guitar-playing is unlike anyone I've ever heard. It's like a lightning storm. Anyone else appreciate?

I love that somebody gave him an official thread. This is one of the greatest guitar players of all time. His style was innovative for its time, and his playing is emotional and powerful.
I was sitting in at a blues club and found out the keys player had toured with him. He told me some awesome stories. He said that Albert would always have food at practice and would take a full drumstick and put it in his mouth and pull out the bone and then start playing while he chewed.

^I am very jealous. I can't even imagine chatting with one of these blues cats. They must have so many stories.

I play blues guitar so I get to meet a lot of interesting characters. I informally trained under that piano player for awhile. Even though he didn't even play guitar, his blues knowledge was aboslutely incredible.

I just recently found my love for the blues late last year because of Mayer, and just last week I picked up Albert King - The Very Best of.

Very influential artist. People who perhaps aren't so familiar with blues music probably think all blues guitar sounds the same, but this is certainly far from the truth, as shown by Albert. It is true however that many modern (but definitely not all) blues guitarists don't seem to play for very long without falling into a B.B. King-lite guitar stereotype, but that's something Albert never did, he had his own style & his own sense of tone from the very beginning.
Born Under a Bad Sign is actually the only full album I'm completely familiar with, which I got into when I was venturing into other projects Booker T Jones had been involved with (this album was produced by him, the title track written by him, & recorded in Booker's studio). Everything else has been compilations unfortunately.

Live Wire/Blues Power is probably my favorite of his actually. One of the few times a live record is tops on my end. Being a massive Herbie Hancock fan, I can't resist a blues cover of Watermelon Man.

I don't really know any other full-lengths of his either. But really, Born Under a Bad Sign is more than enough to engender some Albert love.

For some reason fall (especially approaching Halloween) always gives me a jones for "Born Under a Bad Sign."

I love the blues, but because I'm a lazy bastard I never got round to listening to him until today. Don't know why really, he's a bigger name than a lot of the other blues artists I listen to. Hipster
But, bloody hell, he's fantastic, listening to him reminds me of the first time I heard Howlin' Wolf. It's like I've suddenly heard the blues reinvented. It's really bluesy, but it's also rock n roll at the same time. Almost as if Elvis and Robert Johnson had a baby. Can't believe I've never listened to him before then.
Also, while I'm here, does anyone want to recommend me some modern blues artists? It seems like I don't listening to anything more modern than 1970 really.
