apparently a bandmate of mine heard an interview with Jeff Bridges on the radio about him hinting towards this.
this is what I've found so far.

“The Big Lebowski was a great movie. We hope to make a sequel. I can’t talk about it, but it comes down to Jesus in the jumpsuit.”

This is what I'd be expecting. I wouldn't want the sequel to ruin the original for me.

could go either way, but the film doesn't need a sequel at all.

The Big Lebowski sequel without Jeff Bridges would be like The Last Temptation of Christ without Jesus.. It's a necessity

No need for a sequel really, but done well it could be awesome. And the Coens are two of the only people I have faith in pulling something like this off.

Jeff Bridges loved the character. I don't see why he wouldn't return. And if the Coen Brothers write it and direct it, it will be decent.

I think if they would've done it before it was considered to be a cult classic it would seem a bit more genuine.
I love the fact that people have said that it could either be good OR bad...it will definitely be one of those. Seriously. Sorry to ruin your understanding of the spectrum...
Hell, I say go for it Coen's!

The Big Lebowski was genius, I'd hate to think a sequel would be awful. :/

I'm conflicted on this. On the one hand, The Big Lebowski is one of my favorite films, and I would hate for it to be tainted. On the other hand, I don't think the Coen Brothers could mess it up. They're just too talented haha.

Wasn't the sequel supposed to be about John Torturro's character Jesus?

the jokes just aren't funny. a full grown adult being a dumb pothead isn't funny to me. it's just dumb.
i don't get why people love this movie. i seriously don't think i laughed more than maybe 5 times total.

lol, i get that a lot. here are some of my favorites in no order:
the fountain
zodiac
sunshine
young frankenstein
eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
40 year old virgin
there will be blood
magnolia
punch-drunk love
adaptation
the king
idk, there are just some movies out there that just bug the crap out of me, and i don't understand how they get any praise at all
and if you're curious, i'm not a coen brothers fan at all.

the only film he listed that I'd say was terrible is Magnolia...but I'm not getting off topic with all of this
Jeff Bridges could possibly show up at the Lebowski Fest in CA this year, I'd love to attend one myself although I hate to travel haha

and i'm not dissing on anyone who likes the big lebowski, it just did absolutely nothing for me.

Talked about this movie a million times before so I won't bog down another thread, I'll just say I thought the soundtrack was good and the rest of the move was a mess.
