Way more melodic than anything on O' God...
Sounds like it belongs on Underoath's new cd.

i love it
just less chaotic more badass
probably the single so the rest of the cd will probably sound harder/different
that still too much like botch for you other fuckers?

Sounded good at first but way too melodic for NJ. Maybe it'll grow on me in an Underoath kind of way, but this is disappointing.

I have no idea what I think about it...I do sort of here the Dustin-esque vocals that someone else mentioned...but...this doesn't sound like Norma Jean. It's alright...I just hope that the rest is better. I kinda feel let down.

i think it's pretty tight. not typical norma jean, which just means they are trying new shit. every band should try new shit.

Is that Cory?!!! What happened to the vox? This doesn't sound like a mastered version of the song. It doesn't sound "loud" to me, guitars aren't roaring, vox aren't deafening, what's going on?

I digg. It's better than a lot of other crap coming out. I'm looking forward to it. I don't mind when bands try new things. I don't need to hear/buy the same CD over and over again.

Norma Jean isn't sludge and has never been sludgy in the past either. Just because they play slower metalcore songs doesn't make them sludge.

Pretty cool. I thought by Shanluu this would be the direction they may take. Can't wait for Redeemer!
i usally hate Norma Jean
but i like this song
adding more melody into their songs is a good step for them
This would be the best song on Define The Great White Line - or one of the better ones on Found In The Flood.

i like this song 1000x better than anything else this band has done... they finally wrote a song that doesn't soley consist of crappy breakdowns and fuckin dissonant chords... this album could be good after all

07/25/06, 09:51 AM
Well, I like it I guess. I would like to hear some breakdowns on this CD though O' God struggled with that. This CD should be alot better than the last one though. I still don't like the new vocalist. But maybe it'll grow on me. I will probably pick this up.

This is a pretty good song but sounds a little like they're going new-metal. I hope the rest of the reocord sounds more like their older stuff.

Norma Jean rules....At first listen I do hear the "Define the Great Line" sound, I must confess. But I'm sure the album will be great and stand as its own achievement. The vocals sound more accessible even if some of what I liked about the old jamz has been tamed.
Oh, and the dude who said "sludgy" I don't' think he meant in a bad way. I think he was describing the dissonance and vocal mix.

stop with the underoath comparisons
the only reason you guys think it sounds anything alike is cause Define the great line was EXTREMELY influenced by norma jean

even timmy would admit the songs were influence by norma jean before your dumbass would

Norma jean was definetly influenced by botch on o'god scottie even said it on their dvd
but i dont think it would have been as recognizable if cory's vocals didn't sound so close to botch's
and his scream sound like that back in eso-charis, before norma jean

I'm going to put it out in plain english now:
NORMA JEAN AND UNDEROATH ARE COMPLETE RIPOFFS OF BOTCH AND COALESCE. The two latter bands came along when NJ AND UO were being annoying teenagers, and did what they did better than any band has ever tried.

underoath was influenced by norma jean who was influenced by botch and coalesce
which is what i've been saying from the beginning. minus needing to go all the way back to botch and coalesce cause nobody was talking about them in this thread, they were talking about norma jean sounding like underoath.

but it doesn't mean that the new underoath cd wasn't influenced a lot by o'god the aftermath
