He's great for the beginning, but after that he just doesn't compare to the other two. I guess that is just my preference though...I've never liked any of the grass starters.

hahaha this is a great thread. I went with Squirtle. He was great for the first gym and Blastoise was my fav of the three evolved forms. Charmander was really cool too. Never even thought twice about picking bulbasaur.

I learned that the reason they didn't have "easy," "medium," and "hard" settings was because the pokemon you chose decided that.

example: you first go through the viridian forest, where charmander (easy) was strong against forest type, squirtle (medium) was okay against forest type, and bulbasaur (hard) was a similar type to forest.

bulbasaur was the best choice to start with but the weaker of the three by the time you hit the elite four. squirtle was somewhere in the middle and the same at the end, and charmander was the hardest to start with but the strongest by the end.
