So today i ran out and bought ufc 2009 undisputed/. my xbox has been treated like royalty since i got it. so i come home after running a few more errands and excitedly turn on my Xbox to be stunned by a flashing red light and a black screen reading E 74 error general hardrive failure... so i sit through and hour of troubleshooting just to find out i have to ship it off to microsoft and will probably have to wait another two fucking months to play xbox again. in short i have an obscene desire to MMA bill gates sorry ass take some of his money and start a reliable company that makes products THAT DON"T FUCKING BREAK. every one i know has had some form of flashing light error and had to send at least 1 xbox in. In short bill gates should actually have his company put forth effort twords making products that actually work

Failure rate of 360's is said to be anywhere from 30%-54%.

Doesn't get past the fact that a company should make products that don't randomly break. It's not like M$ is paying for him to send in an Xbox he dropped in a river.
i got an xbox 360 within a month of the original launch date, and had it a little over three years and never had a single issue.
i sold it to my brother-in-law for a $100 after that, and within a month he got the RRoD..... i doubt it was a coincidence

The point is that even though it's unreliable, Microsoft are doing a bang-up job with handling any problems. If they were crooks, they would just nickel and dime for all the repairs, and not be generous with out of warranty repairs.

this is true. out of the many friends/family that have xbox 360's (not including the story i just posted) only two of them have ever gotten a RRoD, and it got fixed pretty quickly.

I had one break (just inside the three year warranty by a month, thank God) and I'm positive it was like two weeks tops.
Granted this was a year ago, maybe some things have changed.

yes but they are crooks for having created a console with several know design flaws in them and failing to spend the extra money to corect these flaws and or run a decent quality control system before selling them to the general public

I can't even explain how much I don't care. This has happened to about 70% of 360 owners, including me.

But if they are fixing all your problems quickly and for free, where does their crookedness come in?
I agree that it's shitty and I agree that they should have made a more reliable product, but I think crook is the wrong word.

I've gotten lucky and never had an issue with mine. Know lots of people who have had this happen though. It's a bummer and sadly, it's to be expected when buying a 360.

Yeah, we get it, it sucks. But at this point, you should know it's inevitable. I haven't had it happen to me yet but I know it's going to. It's stupid and shouldn't happen in the first place but, there's no point complaining about what you can't control

I just got my back and they didn't even fix it but on their site where you can check the status on it, it read repair complete. I called Microsoft up and bitch the hell out of them saying why would you tell me on your site that it is repaired then you send it back and yada yada they told me it was "tampered" with and I just bought Mass Effect 2 Collectors Edition so now they're looking into it and I'm waiting for a call back... I hate E74 errors and I really hate Microsoft products.

The newer models are far more reliable (and quieter). I bought a new one in 08 after the warranty expired on my old one and haven't had any issues.

Hahaha, oh no on stuff breaking!
Get over it. Shit happens. Would you rather:
A. Go XBox-less if they don't want to repair it and buy a new one.
B. Spend money to ship it back and forth.
C. Let me pay for the shipping it and you can wait two months.
C sounds pretty awesome. It's technology. Shit breaks. Nothing will last forever, things happen.

Haven't had a single problem with my launch 360. Then again, I only play Halo on it, so whatever. I still play my SNES like 50x more than my 360.

I've gotten red ring'd about four times now. Sucks complete ass.
The worst part about it is the feeling you get the second you see the red rings.
Complete, "fuck my life" moment.
Anyway,
it only takes, like two weeks to a month for them to get it to you.
On the plus side though, they give you a month of free xbox live,
which was awesome for me, because I was always too cheap to pay for live.

o_O That's weird. I've never heard of a PS3 breaking.
Except for my friend's.
But that's because he ripped the top off of it. Because he's stupid... >.>

Only took mine 2 weeks also. Might depend on how far it has to be shipped. I live in Texas and itw as shipped in state so I'm sure that saved me a few days.

the red ring of death? my brother got that on Christmas when he went to go play some of his new games he got. his moans of agony that were heard throughout the house when it happened were actually slightly terrifying.

Same thing with me. My Xbox just went dead. I sent it in, got it back in two weeks, and it broke like 2 years later. Just went out and bought an arcade. Thing runs like a pro (No pun intended).

So you had a bad system, boo hoo. That doesn't mean the rest of them suck. I know people who've had their PS3 for years and never had a real problem. I look at my friends who have 360's and pretty much all of them has had their 360s red ring and had to be sent in.

I've had 2 360's. My first, I bought the day it was released and it ran perfectly until September last year when it red ringed. I did the towel trick for awhile and it worked but then I got sick of it and bought a new Arcade system and it's been working perfect since I got it. I use my 360 constantly, too. I watch Netflix on it and fall asleep watching TV Shows on it so it stays on all the time and no problems.

Well, the get a PS3 argument in regards to hardware failure (it's a very good system / blu-ray) is no longer relevant. The new (Jasper chip) Xbox 360s are just as reliable, with that 3 year warranty for RRoD.

Alright, my question is... if they actually made a solid system that does not need to repaired very often... would they be selling their games for 60 bucks trying to make back the money it cost to repair all those systems for free? people say they aren't upset... but maybe they should be. Note: not all money from the games go to the developer, xbox does get a share

I bought my Xbox preowned, and after maybe a year it started fucking up, so I sent it in to Microsoft. Apparently the first owner played around with the electronics inside, thus voiding the warranty. I told them, they understood this, they acknowledged that it was not my fault, and then did nothing and forced me to buy a new one.

Mine broke acouple of weeks ago, I sent it away and got it 2 weeks later, it doent take aslong as the time they give, the biggest hting that sucks for you though is UFC 2010 comes out ina couple of months and looks much better then 2009 even though its my favorite fighting game. Take back 2009 and hopefully by the time u get ur xbox back 2010 will be out.

not microsofts fault, how do they know u were telling the truth, how much people do u think who have actually fooled with the electronics themselves have tried to use that.
