Triple Crown (http://www.triplecrownrecords.com)'s signing of The Secret Handshake (www.myspace.com/thesecrethandshake) is now official. Press release below:
Triple Crown Records signs The Secret Handshake – New Disc Scheduled
for a Spring 2007 release.
What is the Secret Handshake? Luis Dubuc is the one man musical
mission known as The Secret Handshake. It's pop. It's electronic. It's
indie. And it's all written and played by Luis with his Wurlitzer
piano and Apple computer. Triple Crown would like to welcome you to
Luis' world.
Triple Crown Records (Brand New, As Tall As Lions, TREOS, Hit The
Lights) welcomes The Secret Handshake to their family. They will be
recording their debut full length with Cory Kildruff, formally of The
Rise. The band will hit the road with new label mates As Tall As Lions
in August. Previously, The Secret Handshake released an EP on Doll
House Recordings entitled "This is Bigger Than You and I." You can
check out The Secret Handshake on their MySpace page at

I like how the band and I tried to get them mentioned on this site several times last year but were ignored each time. Now they are signed to Triple Crown and what do you know? They get mentioned and soon they'll be all of yours next big thing.

They got mentioned...because they are signed. Exactly. What are you bitter about again?
Good job Luis! Im trying a swing a show here for you in a few weeks. We need to go out again soon

Dont be bitter, Thats how the game works.
besides that, this guy's got some amazing charisma. I was him play in albany NY opening for Trophy Scars and we talked for a bit before and afterwards. I was really surprised at how much I liked the whole performance. Unfortunately all the previous EP's dont capture that spririt at all. It's ok though cause theres obviously been a huge improvement in songwriting and its made all the difference in the world

I'm bitter about how this site works. How only certain peoples news submissions get posted and others ignored. I tried to get this band mention last year when their new cd was released last year on Doll House Recordings. I submited it two or three times but noone ever posted the article. I thought this band would appeal to alot of the members on this site and it seems that they do. If I was someone who was a Jason Tate brown noser instead of someone who is critical of this site the news would have been submited. How are you supposed to improve the site if all everyone ever does is kiss Jason's and The Staff's asses? You can't. The site needs people like me and the handful of other people on here who point out the flaws in the machine.

...It wasnt even a good album. When I asked him about stuff that he had out he seemed very put off by it and said "just wait till the new album comes out" like he wasnt even proud of anything up until this point.

Well I thought it was pretty good. It had two really catchy songs.

yeah.. thats something I've been tracking for well over a year now... but its still too far away.
now if only someone would balls crazy enough to go ahead and re-dub all of "headmasters" "victory" and "masterforce" and release them here I'd be all set. cause these crazy asian drunk college kid dubs are awful.

haha! I have the headmasters dubs on VHS. I've never seen the other two. What happens?

The dubs where Magnus bites it, we get to meet the "battle beasts" Scorponok takes over and so on? I didnt think those ever made it to VHS ... strange. but yeah umm..
"Star Saber" leads the autobots in VICTORY, still the same plot for the most part but the Decepticons are raiding the entire galaxy more in search of new bases of operation..etc.. while the autobots stay based on Earth. It gets really weird.. somewhere like.. in betewen VOLTRON and Robotech or somethin like that but.. theres fan dubs you can get here: http://www.tfcog.net/

Luis is an amazing guy and really personal. He deserves this. It's SO hard to get noticed in a terrible "scene" here in Dallas. And now 2 bands have gotten some major national attention (Ocean's Firing signing to Floodgate/EW). Hopefully A&R's will take notice of the reasonably good pool of talent here in Dallas now. Congrats Luis, we'll get you on a Third String show soon enough. :)
Another Dallas area band I highly recommend you guys check out.

uh what is exactly terrible about the dallas scene? i dont care for most of the stuff third string does, but the dallas area has PLENTY of good things going on, you probably just aren't looking into it enough.

i think he was noting that from the outside (i.e. labels) no one looks for bands to sign in Dallas. I don't think he was calling the scene terrible.
Congrats on signing Luis.
