Yes it is normal to be torn apart for music you like on this site, because it gives people a sense of superiority over you based on what they perceive as their "better" music taste, which they automatically correlate to intelligence. If you have thick skin and don't let the trolls get you down, there are some cool people on here and you can find a lot of great new music and expend your musical horizons.

I also think that it can have to do with how annoying your posting is. If you're cool and happen to like something different people are less likely to rip you into a million little odd-music-liking pieces. You shouldn't be ashamed of what you listen to becasue if that's how everyone was the groups you like wouldn't be able to make it.

Welcome. I hope you EVENTUALLY enjoy yourself here. But if you go into your bands own official threads to start out with you should be fine. I did that (Say Anything in my case) which was an interesting experience :p But it helps to go into threads to begin with that you actually know a little about.

AP has a few rules. Its very similar to fight club

1. You must like Brand New
2. You MUST like Brand New.
3. If you listen to bands like Attack Attack, you might as well leave because many people will jump down your throat and cut your stomach lining with a rusty knife.
4. If you post in the wrong forum, the consequences for #3 will probably be repeated.
5. If you need help finding CD's, I recommend using mediafire.
